Over the course of his time on Mayflower Hill, Eli Decker never stopped running, and now that he is a graduate, he doesn’t intend to stop.
He captained a cross country team that improved each year, finishing second at New England Championships in 2019 on its way to the NCAA Championships. The Mules finished 16
th in the nation that fall, with Decker landing his first All-American award to go with his two All-NESCAC honors. Upon graduation, he was awarded the Donald P. Lake, which goes to a male student-athlete for academic ability, athletic ability, and leadership.
He currently works for FitRankings out of Austin, Texas as a full-stack software developer.
“Colby prepared me extremely well for life after college both professionally and socially,” reflected Decker. “At Colby I was able to pursue several different interests: computer science, studio art, and running competitively. I was able to find a role at FitRankings where I can take advantage of my coding and design skills that I nurtured in classes as well as an interest in the running and fitness industry that I got from my cross country teammates and my coach, Jared Beers. I think the liberal arts classes, group projects, and participating in team sports during my time at Colby really helped me work well with others in a collaborative setting and be comfortable wearing different hats in the workplace. Socially, the Colby network and NESCAC network as a whole has been really welcoming and helped me settle into a city I had never been to before. Due to Colby's smaller size, the shared experience in school makes it much easier to connect with alums and meet other fellow NESCAC people.”
