HADLEY, Mass. - The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) announced its award recipients for the 2021 men’s lacrosse season.
Tufts junior attack
Mac Bredahl (Chatham, N.J.) was named the NESCAC Player of the Year. Williams first-year attack
Pearse Glavin (Newton Square, Pa.) was selected as the Rookie of the Year and Williams head coach
George McCormack was voted as Coach of the Year by his peers.
Tufts defeated Williams, 18-11, in the NESCAC Championship Game to capture its third straight NESCAC title and 10th in program history. The Jumbos will face Babson in their opening game of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday.
Bredahl, who also earned a spot on the All-NESCAC First Team, leads a potent Tufts offensive unit that has tallied 144 goals this year. He leads the NESCAC in points (47) and assists (32) and ranks eighth in goals (15). Bredahl had a season-high eight helpers twice this season in wins over Bates and Dartmouth and has registered 11 ground balls and caused six turnovers. Bredahl is the sixth Jumbo to be named NESCAC Player of the Year (Bryan Griffin – 2003 & 2004; Devin Clarke - 2005; DJ Hessler – 2010 & 2011; Cole Bailey – 2014; John Uppgren – 2016).
Glavin, who started all five games for Williams, ranked fifth among the assist leaders in the NESCAC with 10 in his first collegiate season. He added 11 goals on the year to finish second among the Ephs in scoring with 21 points and was third on the squad in ground balls (13). Glavin is the second straight Eph to earn NESCAC Rookie of the Year honors and third Eph overall (David Hawley – 2008; Jake Haase – 2019).
McCormack led Williams to the NESCAC Championship Game for the second year in a row and an unbeaten mark in the NESCAC West division. He garners the NESCAC Coach of the Year honor for the second consecutive season and fourth time overall (2008, 2014, 2019) since arriving at Williams in 2003.
