WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The
Williams women's ice hockey team defeated Wesleyan, 7-1, in NESCAC
tournament action Saturday afternoon in front of a home crowd at
Lansing Chapman Rink. The win was led by the solid play of the Eph
defense, as Wesleyan was limited to 19 shots, 18 of which were
stopped by senior goalie Anna MacIntosh.
The Ephs jumped out to a quick 2-0
lead at the end of one period, led by the stellar goals from Bonnie
Lui and freshman Annie Snodgrass.
The score remained 2-0 until there
was 2:45 remaining in period number two, and Molly Wasserman took a
Tori Scott pass and beat Cardinal goalie Liz Courtney.
Wesleyan countered just before the
end of the period with a goal from Liza Eckles, but that was all
the offense they would get on the afternoon.
The Ephs blasted four third-period
goals past Courtney, highlighted by Wasserman's second goal of the
contest, as well as goals from juniors Lisa Haney, Julia Karoly,
and Liz Toomey. Liz Hodgman and Amanda Weber each picked up two
assists in the final period as well.
