The Polar Bears outshot Amherst 10-2 in the first 20 minutes. Alexander remained strong in the early minutes of the second period, but was unable to keep the Bears off the board as Shelly Chessie knocked home a rebound at 7:55 of the second for a 1-0 Bowdoin lead.

Bowdoin added to their lead at 3:54 of the second period when Jen Pelkey one-timed a Jess Burke centering-pass into the net for a 2-0 lead. Just 12 seconds later the Bears took a four goal advantage with Gillian McDonald one-timing a Britney Carr pass over Alexander's blocker and into the net for a 4-0 lead.
