HARTFORD, Conn. - Trinity captured its 13th conference title with an 8-1 win over No. 2 Williams in Sunday's final of the 2019 NESCAC Women's Squash Championship at Trinity's George A. Kellner Squash Center.
The top-seeded Bantams (15-2) are the only team to win the women's title since the inaugural championship was held in 2007. Trinity won the top eight positions on the ladder against Williams and all eight matches were decided in three games. Williams swept the ninth position match in three games. The No. 2 seed Ephs (15-9) collected the runner-up trophy for the 10th time.
No. 3 seed Middlebury (12-4) defeated No. 4 seed Amherst, 9-0, in the third-place match. The Panthers finished third for the eighth time in the NESCAC Championship. The Mammoths (8-8) were playing in the third-place match for the second straight year.
No. 5 seed Tufts (10-6) finished fifth for the first time in program history with a 5-4 win against No. 6 seed Bates (10-8). The Jumbos earned wins at the No. 7, 8, and 9 positions on the ladder. Overall, six of the matches went four games. The Jumbos were playing for fifth place for the first time in their tournament history.
No. 8 seed Wesleyan (7-10) clipped No. 7 seed Hamilton 5-4 in the seventh-place match. The Cardinals recorded victories in four of the top five positions. The Continentals (9-7) also finished in eighth place in 2018.
