NESCAC NCAA Woman of the Year History

The Woman of the Year honor was established by the NCAA in 1991. From 1991 to 2005, a representative from each state was chosen for the national nominee pool. Beginning in 2006, conferences were empowered to select up to two nominees each year. The Woman of the Year selection committee, made up of representatives from the NCAA membership, selects the Top 30 honorees - 10 from each division. From the Top 30, the selection committee determines the top three honorees from each division and announces the Top 9 finalists. The NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics chooses the NCAA Woman of the Year from those nine finalists. Starting in 2021-22 the conference representatives for the NCAA Woman of the Year honor also represented the NESCAC for the DIII Commissioner's Association Women's Sport Student-Athlete of the Year honor.
