HADLEY, Mass. – A total of 75 student-athletes have been named to the 2019 NESCAC Fall All-Sportsmanship Team. The team is comprised of one student-athlete from each institution for each fall sport the conference sponsors. Honorees are selected by the players and coaches from their respective teams.

ALL-SPORTSMANSHIP HONOREES

The NESCAC All-Sportsmanship Team recognizes student-athletes from each varsity sport who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to sportsmanship. These student-athletes exhibit respect for themselves, teammates, coaches, opponents, and spectators. They display sportsmanship, not only as a participant in their sport, but also as a spectator and in their everyday lives. Through their positive actions and example, these student-athletes inspire others to adhere to the quality of sportsmanship that the NESCAC and the NCAA endorse.

Of the 75 individuals honored this fall, eight hold multiple All-Sportsmanship Team citations, while five were also named to All-NESCAC Teams in their respective sports. 

Headlining the list of repeat All-Sportsmanship honorees are seniors Henry Wilhelm (Shaker Heights, Ohio) of Middlebury and Rachel Furash (Westlake Village, Calif.) of Tufts. Wilhelm was an All-NESCAC selection in men’s soccer and earns a spot on the All-Sportsmanship Team for the second year in a row. He helped the Panthers reach the NESCAC Championship game and finish as the 2019 Runners-Up, as well as earn an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. Furash was an All-NESCAC volleyball performer and helped the Jumbos win the 2019 NESCAC title and earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Other All-NESCAC performers were selected for the All-Sportsmanship Team include sophomore Spencer Davis (Dunstable, Mass.) of Amherst and senior Kenneth Marshall (Ridgewood, N.J.) of Williams. Both runners finished in the top 14 at the NESCAC Cross Country Championship race to collect all-conference honors. Amherst senior Emily Kolsky (Los Angeles, Calif.) led the Mammoths to the No. 4 seed in the NESCAC Volleyball Championship.

Also earning a spot on the All-Sportsmanship Team for the second time in their careers were Colby sophomore Ewan Frick (Kansas City, Mo.) and Wesleyan senior Kevin McMorrow (Windgale, N.Y.), both men’s cross country runners; women’s cross country athlete Anna Willig (Phoenixville, Pa.), a senior at Middlebury; Zach Trevorrow (Honolulu, Hawaii), a senior men’s soccer player at Tufts; and Dayna McCue (Franklin, Mass.) and Kendall Searcy (Kingwood, Texas), senior volleyball players from Connecticut College and Hamilton, respectively.

The All-Sportsmanship Team was created by the NESCAC Student Advisory Committee on Athletics’ (SAAC). The NESCAC SAAC serves as the liaison between the student-athletes of NESCAC member institutions and conference administrators. The committee provides a voice to represent the concerns of all student-athletes and to discuss issues impacting student-athlete welfare. The NESCAC SAAC represents all students who participate in intercollegiate athletics and promotes and celebrates student-athletes’ achievements.
