HARTFORD, Conn. - The New England Small
College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2002-03
Winter All-Academic Team. The NESCAC all-academic team consists of
up to five men and five women from each of the 11 conference
institutions. Each student-athlete is a starter or key reserve on
an varsity sport with a grade point average of at least 3.35. To be
honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic
standing at his or her institution. Transfers must have completed
one year of study at the institution.
Several All-Academic Team members
were honored earlier this week as all-conference selections in
their respective sport. Among those garnering honors on the
academic and athletic all-conference teams include men’s
basketball Player of the Year Steve Zieja of Amherst and NESCAC
Diver of the Meet Caroline Crocker of Williams.
Established in 1971, the NESCAC is
comprised of 11 highly selective colleges and universities located
in the Northeast. The NESCAC sponsors 23 conference championship
sports (11 for men and 12 for women) while member schools offer
extensive and broad based intercollegiate as well as club and
intramural opportunities for both men and women.
