Mission Statement/Purpose
The mission of the New England Small College Athletic Conference Coalition of Student-Athletes of Color (CoSAoC) is to encourage dialogue and solidarity around issues of race. Our main priority is to build a network of support for student-athletes of color in the NESCAC during their college years and beyond to celebrate their achievements. We will continue to work to help NESCAC member institutions to diversify their athletic departments and provide adequate support to their student-athletes of color.
Committee Members
Each institution will select 2-4 student-athletes to serve on the committee. It is preferred that there is at least one representative from a men's sport and one representative from a women's sport from each member institution. In addition, the committee strives to have as many conference sports represented as possible and achieve balanced representation of individual and team sport athletes. Individuals must have reached their sophomore year. Each institution shall determine the process in which its committee members are selected.
Meeting Structure
The entire committee will meet the last week of each month (typically via teleconference or videoconference) to have student and student/advisor discussions, and review action items and next steps.
Subgroups will meet as needed to gather feedback on conference action items.
