NESCAC Volleyball Player of the Week
Siena Steines – Wesleyan – Jr. – OH – Hinsdale, Ill.
Steines earned Heron Invitational MVP honors at William Smith last weekend, leading Wesleyan to a 3-0 record. Steines totaled 30 kills with just three attack errors on 56 swings, giving her a .482 attack percentage over the three matches combined. The junior opened with seven kills, hitting .500 in a three-set sweep of Oswego State before finishing with nine kills and no attack errors (.643 attack percentage) in another sweep of SUNY Geneseo. Steines closed out the weekend with a team-high 14 kills, hitting .400 in a five-set win over William Smith. 
 
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst – Gabrielle Hines (Chesterfield, Va.) led the Mammoths to a 1-1 record at the Roger Williams Invitational. The sophomore totaled a team-high 16 kills over two matches and tied for the team lead with 14 digs. Hines also added two service aces and two block assists. In a 3-0 win over host Roger Williams, Hines had 11 kills and eight digs, an ace, and a block assist. Over the two matches, Hines had just one service reception error in a team-high 32 attempts.
 
Bates – The Bobcats open the 2026 campaign on Tuesday, September 8 at the Univ. of Southern Maine.
 
Bowdoin – Skye LaMendola (Coppell, Texas) averaged 3.6 kills and 2.0 digs as the Polar Bears opened the season 2-1 at the WashU Invitational in St. Louis. LaMedola hit .341 for the weekend and racked up 21 kills in a win against St. Olaf. 
 
Colby – The Mules begin the 2026 season in Atlanta, Georgia, at East-West Classic hosted by Emory. Colby faces WashU on Friday, September 11 and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Emory on Saturday, September 12.
 
Conn. College – Dylan Kokkinos (Aurora, Ill.) paced the Camels’ defense last week in a pair of matches at the Brandeis Judges Invitational. The sophomore finished with a team-high 23 digs and added six assists and a service ace in four sets against MIT. In the ensuing match against Wellesley, Kokkinos supplied 11 digs and two aces in three sets.
 
Hamilton – Ayzlinn Trefren (Simi Valley, Calif.) finished with a team-high 10 kills and added a .348 hitting percentage (10-2-23), seven digs with no reception errors, one solo block, and one ace in a three-set loss at Smith. It was the 13th time Trefren reached double figures in kills in a match in the junior's career with the Continentals.
 
Middlebury – Rookie Chloe Cunniffe (Pittsford, N.Y.) kicked off her Panther career with double-digit assists in each of Middlebury’s matches as part of a 4-0 opening weekend. Cunniffe logged 70 helpers and 28 digs in the four contests, highlighted by 23 assists and six digs in a five-set marathon win over Clarkson to cap the swing. It is Middlebury’s best start to a campaign since tallying 14 consecutive wins to start the 2021 season.
 
Trinity – Annette Schlunk (Hollis, N.H.) had a standout opening weekend for the Bantams in non-conference play, helping Trinity to a 2-0 record. Against Husson, Schlunk registered 12 kills, two service aces, five digs, and an .800 hitting percentage. The junior added seven kills in Trinity’s 3-0 win over SUNY Canton. After the opening weekend, Schlunk leads the NESCAC in hitting percentage (.586), kills (19; 4.75 per set), and points (21).
 
Tufts – Senior Emma Heckman (San Diego, Calif.) had a strong start to the season for the No. 13 Jumbos, as she posted 30 kills over three matches while hitting .184. Heckman posted a team-high nine aces for the week and added 19 digs over the three matches. Against No. 3 Berry in a tough five-set loss, Heckman had five kills, four aces, and five digs. She added 15 kills, eight digs, and three aces against Scranton. Heckman closed out the three-match stretch with six digs, two aces, and 10 kills, including back-to-back terminations, to clinch a four-set win over No. 18 Ithaca. 
 
Williams – Keely Campuzano (Excelsior, Minn.) helped lead Williams to a 2-0 opening weekend at the Brandeis Invitational, recording a team-best 23 kills across two 3-1 victories over WPI and Brandeis. The senior averaged 3.29 kills per set while hitting .289 on 45 attacks, consistently providing an offensive spark for the Ephs throughout the weekend. The Ephs defeated WPI (25-17, 25-16, 23-25, 27-25) and Brandeis (21-25, 25-18, 25-20, 25-20).
