NESCAC Field Hockey Player of the Week
Hannah Balmelli – Bowdoin – Jr. – M – Lake Forest, Ill.
Balmelli scored the game-winning goal in consecutive days as the Polar Bears defeated a pair of top-ten teams in one-goal victories last weekend at Ryan Field. On Saturday, Balmelli put home a scramble in front of the net with 3:46 to go, giving Bowdoin a 2-1 win over No. 10 Wesleyan. On Sunday, Baldelli scored the game’s only goal early in the second half of a 1-0 victory against No. 5 Williams.
 
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst – Genevieve Caruso (Greenwich, Conn.) scored the Mammoths' lone goal of the week, a timely score in overtime to send Amherst past WPI, 1-0. The senior leads Amherst with three goals this season.
 
Bates – Sammy Logan (Mansfield, Mass.) scored her second game-winning goal of the season on Saturday as the Bobcats prevailed 2-1 in overtime over No. 24 nationally ranked Lynchburg. Breaking ahead of the defense, Logan went one-on-one with the Lynchburg goalkeeper, moved to her left, and got an open look at the cage to convert a shot into the lower right side for the winning tally. Logan also scored the game-winner in overtime against Bowdoin earlier this season.
 
Colby – Hadley Swenson (Concord, Mass.) tallied the opening goal in Sunday's victory over Conn. College, marking her second score of the season. The midfielder also assisted Colby's lone goal the day before in a 2-1 setback against Williams, and collected another helper in a midweek win over St. Joseph’s (ME). Swenson ranks in the top-20 in the conference for points. 
 
Conn. College – Sadie Gearan (Lynnfield, Mass.) registered two goals and an assist last week as the Camels went on the road for two NESCAC matchups. The senior notched her first goal of the season against No. 2 Tufts on Saturday, then added a goal and an assist against Colby on Sunday.  
 
Hamilton – Sophomore Brighton McMahon (Hebron, Conn.) posted six points on two goals and two assists in a 2-1 week for the Continentals. McMahon scored a goal in a 4-0 win at Trinity, picked up two assists in a 3-1 victory against Skidmore, and notched another goal in a 4-2 setback at Middlebury.
 
Middlebury – Addie Chandler (Denver, Colo.) sparked Middlebury to two wins over nationally ranked conference foes. The midfielder opened the weekend with a career-high two goals and an assist, pushing the Panthers to a 3-0 victory over No. 17 Amherst. Chandler continued her strong output against No. 13 Hamilton, converting a penalty stroke goal and assisting on Middlebury’s final tally in a 4-2 home triumph against the Continentals. 
 
Tufts – Tufts sophomore Eleanor Helm (Loudonville, N.Y.)  and junior Hannah Murray (Worcester, Mass.) continued their strong starts to the season last week. They each scored in both games as Tufts defeated Connecticut College, 2-1, in NESCAC play on Saturday after earning a 4-0 win at MIT on Tuesday. Helm and Murray lead the conference with seven goals each so far.
 
Wesleyan – Teddy Tolbert (Ypsilanti, Mich.) recorded one goal and one assist in two games last week. Tolbert scored her first goal of the year in a Tuesday night 3-1 win at Roger Williams and assisted on the lone Wesleyan goal in a 2-1 loss at Bowdoin on Saturday. 
 
Williams – Senior Claire Colvin (Winchester, Mass.) registered the game-winning goal and added an assist in a 2-1 victory at Colby on Saturday. It was the eighth game-winning goal of Colvin's collegiate career.
