NESCAC Nabs Seven USTFCCA Regional Awards

Regional Athletes and Coaches of the Year for the 2026 NCAA DIII Outdoor Track & Field season were announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The honorees included seven from the NESCAC:
Men's Track Athlete of the Year-Northeast Region: Levi Biery, Colby
Biery finished third in the 400-meter hurdles at the NCAA DIII Outdoor Championships and also earned All-America honors in the 4×400. Earlier in the season, Biery won the 400H at the NESCAC Championships and took runner-up honors at the AARTFC Championships.

Men's Field Athlete of the Year-Mideast Region: Uly Junker, Williams
Junker starred at the NESCAC Outdoor Championships, where he soared 7.41m (24-3¾) to set both a meet record and a program record.

Women's Field Athlete of the Year-Northeast Region: Elysse Cumberland, Tufts
Cumberland earned two First-Team All-America honors in the horizontal jumps, placing second in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump. She PR’d in the long jump in La Crosse, WIsconsin, soaring 6.21m (20-4½) for that runner-up spot. Earlier in the season, Cumberland won the long jump at the DIII New England Championships. Wisconsin

Women's Coach of the Year-Northeast Region: Dave Cusano, Colby
Cusano led the White Mules to a 13th-place team finish at the 2026 NCAA DIII Outdoor Championships, earning 10 All-America honors. Colby also had top-10 team finishes at the AARTFC Outdoor Championships and New England DIII Outdoor Championships.

Men's Assistant Coach of the Year-Mideast Region: Stephanie Mauer, Williams
Mauer coached Eph mid-distance and distance runners to three titles and one runner-up finish at the NESCAC Outdoor Championships. Three of her athletes qualified for the 2026 NCAA DIII Outdoor Championships.

Women's Assistant Coach of the Year-Mideast Region: Dusty Lopez, Williams
Lopez coached Eph middle distance and distance runners to contribute 74 of Williams’ 135 points in earning a runner-up team finish at the NESCAC Outdoor Championships. His athletes combined for six top-10 national performances, including four in the top-5.

Women's Assistant Coach of the Year-Northeast Region: Kat Rafuse, Tufts
Rafuse coached Jumbo athletes to account for 42 points as Tufts won the team title at the NESCAC Outdoor Championships. Her sprinters set multiple program records this season while earning No. 1 regional rankings in the 100 meters and 4×100 relay.
