HADLEY, Mass. - The 2026 NESCAC Women's Tennis awards were announced after a vote by the conference coaches. Tina She of Amherst was named the NESCAC Player of the Year while Wesleyan's Agnes Guggenheim was selected as the NESCAC Rookie of the Year. Bowdoin senior Cara Hung was the recipient of the Senior Sportswoman of the Year, and Polar Bear head coach Ben Lamanna was voted as the NESCAC Coaching Staff of the Year.
She is the sixth Amherst Mammoth to be selected as the NESCAC Player of the Year and the first since 2022. The sophomore posted a 21-4 singles record playing primarily at the top of the Amherst ladder and added 18 wins with doubles partner Karolina Dobiecka. She was named to the All-NESCAC First Team in singles and All-NESCAC Second Team in doubles this season. The Mammoths reached the semifinals of the NESCAC Tournament, falling 4-3 to eventual champion Wesleyan, and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Guggenheim is the second Cardinal in three years and third player overall from the program to garner the NESCAC Rookie of the Year honor. The first year is 16-7 in singles competition, playing at No. 1 or No. 2. Guggenheim won her match at No. 2 singles, contributing to Wesleyan's 4-0 win over Bowdoin and the team's sixth NESCAC Championship. The rookie, who was an All-NESCAC First Team selection in singles and doubles, also has 11 doubles wins this season. The Cardinals earned an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
Hung is the second consecutive Bowdoin player and fourth Polar Bear overall to earn the Senior Sportswoman of the Year honor. The honor is awarded annually to the individual who has displayed a high standard of tennis and the highest levels of sportsmanship. Hung is a five-time All-NESCAC selection and was named to the All-NESCAC First Team in singles and All-NESCAC Second Team in doubles this season. She has registered 13 wins playing at the top of the Bowdoin ladder in singles. In doubles, Hung plays primarily at No. 2 doubles with partner Suzanne Pogorelec and the duo is 19-9 as Bowdoin heads into the NCAA Tournament.
Bowdoin head coach Ben Lamanna is the NESCAC Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season, as voted by his peers. Lamanna led Bowdoin to the No. 2 seed in the NESCAC Tournament and reached the championship match for the first time in program history. Bowdoin owns a 13-7 record heading into the NCAA Tournament.
