NESCAC Women's Tennis Season Comes to an End in NCAA Individual Championship

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The 2025-26 NESCAC Women's Tennis season came to an end on Saturday, May 23 in the NCAA Singles Tournament in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Amherst sophomore Tina She saw her NCAA individual run end in the Round of 32, falling to Chicago's Clara Zou, 6–3, 4–6, 6–4, after a nearly three-hour battle. The No. 3 player in the nation and the NESCAC Player of the Year battled through a slow-paced, grinding match and capped a standout season with a 24–5 record.

Middlebury's Elise Van Wieren, the No. 8 seed in the singles tournament, defeated Carnegie Mellon's Jane Wong, 6-3, 6-3 to move into the round of 16. The Panther met Eleanor Archer of Washington University in St. Louis and raced out to a 4-1 lead before claiming the opener 6-4 and grabbed a 6-4 win in the second set to secure a spot in the quarterfinals. In Saturday's quarterfinal match, Van Wieren was matched up with top-ranked Matia Cristiani of Babson. The Middlebury sophomore fell in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, to finish the season with a team-high 25 victories. Van Wieren is the second Middlebury athlete in the last four seasons to reach the national quarterfinals.

Fresh off delivering the clinching point to help Wesleyan win the 2026 NCAA title, rookie Agnes Guggenheim, the No. 20 player in the country, defeated No. 8 Emily Kantrovitz of Emory, 6-4, 6-2, in the opening round of the singles championship. In the Round of 16, the NESCAC Rookie of the Year fell to No. 27 Lauren Long of Washington & Lee, 7-5, 6-4, to close out an impressive first season with the Cardinals with 19 wins.
