NESCAC Record Four Teams Selected to NCAA Softball Tournament

A conference record four NESCAC softball teams were selected for the 2026 NCAA Tournament field. Middlebury, the NESCAC Champs, earned the league's automatic bid and is joined by at-large selections Bowdoin, Colby, and Tufts.

Regional action gets underway Thursday, May 14 and runs through Saturday, May 16. Super Regoinals are slated for May 21 and 22 and the finals will be played May 28 through June 3 at Moyer Park in Salem, Virginia.

All NCAA Tournament games will be webcast on the NCAA Champs Pass app available on smart TVs, computers, and mobile devices.

Middlebury is playing in the NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history and the first time since 2011. The Panthers own a 33-8 record, the most wins in a single season in team history, and have won seven consecutive games and nine of their last 10. Middlebury travels to Medford, Mass. for the Tufts Regional and will face Muhlenberg in its opening game on Thursday, May 14 at 1:30 p.m. 

For the second time in program history, Bowdoin is headed to the NCAA Tournament. The Polar Bears (27-9), who have posted their highest win total since 2018, are headed to the Moravian Regional. The NESCAC Semifinalists face host Moravian at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 14. Westfield State and Cortland are the other two teams in the regional.

Colby is making its NCAA Tournament debut this season. The Mules' 26 wins are the most in program history and reached the NESCAC Semifinals for the second straight season. Colby will stay in Maine for the opening games, traveling to Husson for regional action. The Mules are set to face MIT in the opening game of the tournament, scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 14. Endicott and host Husson are the other teams in the regional bracket.

For the seventh time 2015, Tufts will host an NCAA Regional at Spicer Field. The Jumbos (30-10) are the top seed and welcome No. 2-seeded and familiar foe Middlebury, No. 3-seed Muhlenberg (32-11) and No. 4 seed Alfred University (29-13). The Jumbos, who earned the top seed in the NESCAC Tournament and advanced to the semifinals, will play Alfred at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 14 in the first game of the regional.
