NESCAC Softball Player of the Week
Isabel Bettencourt – Bates – Jr. – C – Peabody, Mass.
Bettencourt smashed four home runs and hit .438 at the plate while slugging a 1.188 last week. In a sweep of Wesleyan, the junior went 3-for-5 with two home runs, four RBI, and two runs scored. In the opener versus the Cardinals and Bates trailing 1-0, Bettencourt’s two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth put the Bobcats in front for a final score of 2-1 victory. Bettencourt also went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored in a win over Hamilton. With the Bobcats trailing 5-0, Bettencourt’s three-run homer sparked Bates to score seven times over three consecutive innings en route to an 8-7 victory. The catcher’s six long balls on the season are three shy of the Bates record.

NESCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
Sharlotte Stazinski – Colby – Fy. – Walpole, Mass.
Stazinski earned wins over Middlebury and Williams last weekend to move the Mules into sole possession of first place in the NESCAC standings. The first-year threw 6.2 innings against the Panthers in a 2-1 victory and 7.0 innings in a 5-2 victory against the Ephs. Stazinski allowed one earned run each game, improving her ERA to 1.43 on the season with a 9-2 record. 
 
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst – Lulu Leppard (Nashua, N.H.) hit .538 (7-13) with a .600 OBP and a 1.000 slugging percentage in a 1-3 week for the Mammoths. The sophomore knocked out three triples in her seven hits while also walking twice, scoring twice, and driving in three runs. The shortstop fielded the position cleanly … In the lone Amherst win of the week, a 6-2 decision over Springfield, rookie Gwen Religa (Cromwell, Conn.) fanned a career-high 12 batters in a complete-game effort.

Bates – Sophomore Brigid Gaffny (North Andover, Mass.) won a pair of games in the circle for the Bobcats, going the distance and allowing just two runs in an 8-2 win over Saint Joseph's and tossing six innings of two-run ball out of the bullpen in an 8-7 win over Hamilton

Bowdoin – Senior Anika Ewert (Newport Coast, Calif.) went 5-for-7, scoring four runs and stealing four bases in a doubleheader sweep of Hamilton on Friday … Senior Maddie Current (Lutherville Timonium, Md.) tossed a complete game, allowing one earned run, and striking out three batters in a Game 1 win against the Continentals.

Colby – Across four games last week, Carissa Cassidy (Columbus, Ind.) hit .533 with eight hits, three runs, four RBI, and five stolen bases. The senior collected two hits in each game against Middlebury as the Mules earned a split with the Panthers. Cassidy collected four more hits in Saturday's doubleheader sweep against Williams, including a three-hit game in the opener. Cassidy was responsible for the winning run in all three victories for the Mules last week, scoring the winning run against Middlebury (2-1) and driving in the winning run in both games against the Ephs (5-2 and 1-0).

Hamilton – Hadley Rogers (Wallingford, Conn.) hit .538 (7-13) with five runs scored, three runs batted in, and a double in four NESCAC road games. Rogers also handled 29 chances in the field without an error. In a 14-2 win in five innings at Bates, the senior singled, drew two walks, scored two runs, and drove in two. Rogers ended the weekend with an eight-game hitting streak … Yael Everett (Ridgefield, Conn.) posted a 2.80 ERA in 15 innings covering three appearances in a four-game NESCAC road weekend. Everett allowed one earned run and struck out three in five innings of a 14-2 win at Bates. In an 8-7 loss in the opener against the Bobcats, the sophomore allowed one unearned run on one hit and fanned three in four innings of relief.

Middlebury – In Middlebury’s 9-5 victory in nine innings over Colby, Livy Schultz (Natick, Mass.) went 4-for-5 with two home runs, three runs batted in, and crossed the plate three times. She became the first Panther in nearly four years to have a multi-homer game. The sophomore finished the road swing against the Mules and Tufts by going 4-for-8 over the remaining three contests … Senior McKenna Lont (Wyckoff, N.J.) earned the lone win of the weekend in the circle for Middlebury, giving up four hits and two runs over five innings in a 9-5 win in nine innings over Colby. The Panther also struck out four Mules to clinch her eighth triumph of the season.

Trinity – Junior Makenna True (Hooksett, N.H.) helped the Bantams post a 4-0 record last week, batting .571 (8-14) with a double, a triple, five RBIs, and three runs scored. In a two-game set against Mitchell, True went 6-for-8 with four RBI and three runs scored, followed by a pair of 1-for-3 performances in a sweep of Amherst … Rookie Erin Connor (Jefferson, Mass.) dominated the pitching circle for the Bantams in a pair of victories, logging a 1.08 ERA across 13 innings of work with two complete games. In a six-inning victory over Mitchell, Connor allowed one run on seven hits with three strikeouts. In seven innings versus Amherst, Connor allowed one earned run in a 2-1 victory. Connor held opponents to just one extra-base hit in 13 innings.

Tufts – Cat Kawabe (Huntington Beach, Calif.) hit .500 (5-10) in four games for the Jumbos with two doubles, three walks, six runs scored, and four runs batted in. The sophomore had a .615 on-base percentage and .700 slugging mark for a 1.315 OPS during the week. Against Middlebury on Saturday, which the Jumbos swept, Kawabe hit .500, scoring three runs and driving in two. She was also 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run, and two RBI in Tufts' 9-0 win at Babson on Tuesday. She handled all 14 of her fielding chances cleanly … Avery Kanouse (Elmhurst, Ill.) pitched a complete game in a 5-1 victory. The rookie allowed just three hits in the seven innings, including retiring the final 16 batters that she faced. She struck out five and did not walk a batter. In three appearances overall for the week, Kanouse was 2-0 with a 0.93 earned run average, allowing nine hits and two runs in 15 innings. At Babson on Tuesday, Kanouse gave up three hits and no runs in six innings of a combined shutout victory.

Wesleyan – Sophomore Whitney Gigante (Tewksbury, Mass.) went six innings on Friday at Bates and allowed just two runs on six hits with one walk and two strikeouts. 

Williams – Junior Katie Blanch (Rye, N.Y.) went a combined 6-of-16 batting, with six RBI, three runs, two homers, and one double, in five games last week. The junior went 3-for-4 in the batter's box, with five RBI, two homers, two runs, and one double, in a 10-4 victory against Smith on Tuesday … Senior captain and starting pitcher Sadie Leonard (Tiburon, Calif.) earned the win in the circle, going 10 innings, not allowing a single earned run and striking out a career-high 19 batters in a 2-1 victory over RPI on Wednesday.
