The Bates Bobcats overcame an 18-point deficit to defeat No. 6-ranked Smith and advance to the "Sweet 16" round of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament for the second time in three years.

Mya Hicks hit a tying 3-pointer with 36 seconds left in regulation and scored five points in overtime to lead Bates past Smith 74-70 on Saturday night at Alumni Gym.
Hicks finished with 19 points, going 5 of 7 from beyond the arc, as the Bobcats overcame an 18-point second-quarter deficit to force overtime and ultimately claim the victory. Bates trailed 39-21 at halftime before outscoring Smith 20-16 in the third quarter and 17-5 in the fourth to knot the score at 60.
Sophie Spolter led Bates (26-3) with 20 points, and Lily Lambo added seven points and three key assists, including the overtime feed to Elsa Daulerio that gave Bates its first lead of the extra period. Sarah Hughes grabbed 13 rebounds.
Hannah Martin paced Smith (28-2) with 19 points, and Virginia Johnson contributed 13 points and 13 rebounds. The Pioneers held a commanding advantage for much of the game but went just 2 of 13 from the field in the fourth quarter, scoring only five points as Bates stormed back. Bates converted 18 of 22 free throws on the night, including 7 of 8 in overtime.

Bowdoin’s season came to an end in a 67-59 loss to the University of Southern Maine at Morrell Gymnasium. The Huskies (27-2), who went 23-25 from the free throw line, advance to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2007. The Polar Bears end their year with a record of 25-3.
USM knocked down six 3-pointers and led by as many as nine in the second quarter before Bowdoin closed the gap heading into the break behind 3-pointers from Rachel Storey and Carly Davey that trimmed the lead to 37-34 at intermission.
The second half saw Bowdoin come within a single point on four occasions, and took nine shots that could've regained the lead, but could not draw even or go ahead. Southern Maine went 12-13 from the line in the fourth quarter.
Jaycie Christopher scored 17 points, going a perfect 9 for 9 from the free-throw line, to lead USM. Avah Ingalls added 13 points and Izzy Morelli contributed 11 off the bench.
Abbie Quinn paced the Polar Bears with 20 points and six rebounds while Maria Belard contributed 15 points and three steals.
