Every Monday during the season, a NESCAC Player of the Week will be selected based on information submitted by the athletic communications offices at member institutions.
NESCAC Football Offensive Player of the Week
Jack Fabiano – Williams – Fy. – RB – Caldwell, N.J.
Fabiano led Williams to a 34-25 victory over visiting Hamilton on Saturday. Fabiano ran for 257 yards and three touchdowns on 26 carries (9.9-yard average). All three touchdowns and 213 of his yards came in the second half, with his final run being an 83-yard sprint to the house with 36 seconds left, securing the win. His 257 yards are the second-most by an Eph player ever, trailing only the 274 amassed by Sean Rorke ’93 in 1991 against Wesleyan. In addition to his two receptions for a modest 15 yards, he also made a touchdown-saving tackle from behind near midfield on a Hamilton fumble recovery with Williams holding an eight-point lead with five minutes remaining. And on the play before his final scoring scamper, he recovered a fumbled handoff at the Eph 22 that would have given the Continentals a golden opportunity to win the game in the final seconds.
NESCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week
Jacob Tobias – Trinity – So. – LB – Rumson, N.J.
Tobias recorded a career-high 11 tackles, an interception, and a pass break up in Trinity's 26-23 victory at Middlebury. With less than two minutes remaining in the first half, Tobias picked off a pass in the Panthers’ red zone, leading to the Bantams' go-ahead score and a lead they would not relinquish at the end of the half.
NESCAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Wyatt Cotton – Williams – Sr. – DB – Edgewater, Md.
Cotton waited until the very end of the game to have an impact on special teams for Williams, but it was crucial to the 35-24 win over Hamilton. Clinging to a two-point lead with 1:49 remaining, the Ephs simply needed to recover an onside kick to essentially clinch the victory. But the kick slipped through the front line and continued downfield to the Williams 22 before Cotton corralled the loose ball. Had the Continentals recovered it at the spot, they would have been in field goal range with a chance to win in the waning seconds.
