The sophomore scored the game-winning goal with no time on the clock in the first overtime period at Hamilton. Tufts' 10-0 start is its best since 2009, and its 15-game winning streak overall is the second-longest in school history.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst – Senior
Grace Puchalski (Waxhaw, N.C.) made four saves, three in the second quarter, to keep the Mammoths in the game in a 2-1 setback to top-ranked Tufts.
Bates – Amy LaBelle (Barrington, R.I.) racked up three assists while never leaving the field in a 2-0 week for the Bobcats. The defender proved a key contributor on both ends, helping Bates beat Wellesley 5-1 with a pair of assists and setting up the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Trinity. All three helpers came on penalty corners. Labelle’s shot in the 60th minute against the Bantams was redirected by junior captain Elsa Copeland into the back of the cage for the game-winner. The senior’s three assists are more than she recorded in her entire career coming into last week's games.
Bowdoin – Senior forward
Emily Ferguson (Shrewsbury, Mass.) produced two goals in the largest win for Bowdoin in two years with an 8-0 victory at Thomas on Saturday. Ferguson leads the Polar Bears with nine goals this season, helping the No. 10 team to a 6-2 overall record.
Colby – Sophomore
Bridget Waters (Madison, Conn.) provided the game’s decisive spark, scoring the game-winning goal in Colby’s 3–1 triumph over the University of New England. Shortly after the Nor'Easters tied the game at 1-1 in the third, Waters converted a rebound attempt at the 43:14 mark to put Colby ahead 2–1.
Conn. College – Isabella Carnall (Malvern, Pa.) went 1-1 in goal and made 14 saves for the Camels last week. The sophomore stopped a pair of shots in a 3-2 non-conference win over MIT in the first-ever meeting between the schools. Carnall recorded a career-high 12 saves in a 2-0 loss against No. 5 Williams in league action.
Hamilton – Junior
Kenna White (Charlotte, N.C.) scored the game-winning goal 1:50 into the first sudden-victory overtime period of the Continentals' 2-1 victory against No. 13 Wesleyan. It was White's first career game-winning goal and third tally overall.
Middlebury – Megan Fuqua (Boston, Mass.) paced the Middlebury attack with her fourth career hat trick and three shots on goal in a 5-0 triumph over Colby. The senior closed the weekend with a helper at the 19:10 mark during the Panthers’ 6-1 victory over No. 16 Endicott. Fuqua is tied for the team lead with 18 points heading into a showdown with No. 1 Tufts next weekend.
Wesleyan – Sophomore
Emily Smith (Boston, Mass.) scored or assisted on four of the five goals in a 5-1 road win over Trinity on Wednesday, in a game in which Wesleyan scored the most goals against the Bantams in 54 all-time meetings. Smith scored a career-high five points with one goal and three assists in that win, becoming just the fourth Cardinal to record three assists in a game. She added three shots (two on goal) in a Saturday overtime loss at Hamilton.
Williams – In the only game of the week for the Ephs, senior
Madeline Rowland (Wilmington, Del.) scored the game-winning goal in the third quarter to lead No. 5 Williams to a 2-0 victory over Connecticut College on Senior Day on Saturday.
