NESCAC Field Hockey Weekly Release - Oct. 19, 2026

Every Monday during the season, a NESCAC Player of the Week will be selected based on information submitted by the athletic communications offices at member institutions.

NESCAC Field Hockey Player of the Week
Eva Filipponi – Bowdoin – Jr. – GK – Wilton, Conn.
Filipponi led the Polar Bears to three wins, including two shutouts over ranked opponents, and stretched her scoreless minutes streak to 366:20 as Bowdoin extended its winning streak to seven games. After posting shutouts against No. 12 Babson and No. 5 Hamilton earlier in the week, Filipponi’s shutout streak ended Sunday against Colby, but the netminder posted a career-high 13 saves against the Mules, including three in quick succession in the second overtime, immediately preceding Bowdoin’s game-winner. Filipponi leads the conference with a 0.56 GAA this fall.

NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst – Genevieve Caruso (Greenwich, Conn.) scored once in each of the Mammoths’ three games last week, helping Amherst go 2-1. She was credited with two game-winning goals. Against Bates, she put the Mammoths up 1-0 with a goal at 5:13 in the first quarter. The senior scored the go-ahead goal in the fourth quarter of an eventual 4-2 win at Smith and put Amherst up 2-0 on Colby, in an eventual 3-2 overtime setback. Caruso has a career-high 12 goals, second in the NESCAC, and six game-winners this season (out of 8 Amherst wins), which leads the conference.

Bates – Elsa Copeland (Toronto, Ontario) recorded her first career hat trick on Tuesday in a 6-0 win over the University of New England. The junior has nine goals on the season, which leads the Bobcats.

Colby – Goalkeeper Ginna Jacoby (Denver, Colo.) totaled 32 saves in two NESCAC matches. In a thrilling overtime win over No. 15 Amherst, Jacoby stopped a career-high 23 shots, including four in overtime. Jacoby's most impressive moment was when she turned away a penalty stroke seven minutes into the extra frame. The sophomore recorded another stellar effort against No. 6 Bowdoin, turning aside nine shots over 77 minutes in a double-overtime battle.

Conn. College – Elizabeth Bonner (Westfield, N.J.) led the Camels to a 3-0 victory in their first-ever meeting against Montclair State. The junior scored two goals in the homecoming, including the game-winner just 7:57 into the contest. Bonner added her second tally in the fourth quarter, bringing her season total to three and marking her second collegiate multi-goal game.

Hamilton – Sophomore Brighton McMahon (Hebron, Conn.) scored both goals in the Continentals' 2-0 win against Rochester. The multi-goal game was the first of McMahon's Hamilton career.

Middlebury – Junior Emma McCann (Needham, Mass.) scored both Panther goals in a 2- 0 win over Trinity. McCann tallied the first goal with 2:23 elapsed and added her second less than four minutes later. It marks McCann’s third multi-goal game of her career and ties her at the top of the squad with 19 points.

Tufts – Sophomore Scarlett Carpenter (San Francisco, Calif.) scored the game-winning goal in the first overtime period at Bates on Saturday as the Jumbos remained undefeated (13-0, 8-0 NESCAC) with a come-from-behind 3-2 win over the Bobcats. The 2-1 fourth-quarter deficit was the first time Tufts had trailed all season. Carpenter also scored the second goal in Tufts' 5-0 win over the University of New England on Thursday.

Wesleyan – Sophomore Marley Procopio (Moorestown, N.J.) played the full 60 minutes in a 1-0 home defeat to Williams.
