NESCAC Field Hockey Weekly Release - Oct. 12, 2026

Every Monday during the season, a NESCAC Player of the Week will be selected based on information submitted by the athletic communications offices at member institutions.

NESCAC Field Hockey Player of the Week
Isabel Ginns – Tufts – Sr. – GK – Montclair, N.J.
In the lone game of the week for the Jumbos, Ginns was the backbone of Tufts' 2-0 victory over Middlebury on Saturday as the top two teams in NESCAC and in the nation squared off. The senior posted a season-high nine saves as the Panthers out-shot the Jumbos 21-14. Ginns was particularly strong in the fourth quarter, when she made five saves as Middlebury attempted 10 shots in a comeback attempt. The shutout was Ginns' fifth of the year. The win was the Jumbos' 16th in a row, dating back to last year, and broke the school record.

NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst – Senior Genevieve Caruso (Greenwich, Conn.) scored twice in a 3-0 win over Western New England last week and leads the Mammoths with nine goals this season.

Bates – Ava Donohue (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) recorded two shutouts with a total of seven saves last week as the Bobcats defeated Southern Maine, 3-0, and Connecticut College, 2-0. The junior notched six saves against the Camels, highlighted by a save on a penalty stroke in the 49th minute. Donohue's goals against average sits at a career-best 0.91. She sports a 7-2 record in the cage, with four shutouts this season.

Bowdoin – Junior midfielder Hannah Balmelli (Lake Forest, Ill.) recorded four goals in two wins last week, with a hat-trick in a 6-0 win versus Husson on Tuesday before adding a goal in the 2-0 win over Trinity on Saturday to help the Polar Bears extend their win streak to four. Balmelli paces Bowdoin’s offense with a team-best nine goals.

Colby – Ruth Collins (Scituate, Mass.) was a clutch spark plug for the Mules' attack, scoring in back-to-back contests over the three-game stretch. Collins opened the week by scoring the game-winning goal in the 24th minute in a 4–0 win over local rival Thomas College. The rookie netted an unassisted equalizer in the first quarter against Wesleyan, keeping the Mules competitive in the NESCAC battle.

Conn. College – Junior Elizabeth Bonner (Westfield, N.J.) scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 overtime victory over Trinity last week. The goal, her first of the season, came 5:23 into the extra frame and gave the Camels their first NESCAC win of the season.

Hamilton – In the Continentals' lone game of the week, Kelly Janssen (Greenwich, Conn.) made five saves in their 1-0 win against No. 15 Amherst. Janssen preserved the one-goal lead by turning away a penalty stroke midway through the fourth quarter and stopping another shot three minutes into the fourth. The junior also came out to the edge of the shooting circle to stop a Mammoth breakaway midway through the first quarter.

Middlebury - Ally Kennedy (Wellesley, Mass.) helped the No. 2 Panthers to a 1-1 split against top-15 opponents on the weekend. The defender fired three shots and logged 51 minutes against No. 1 Tufts. Kennedy saved the best for last, scoring the lone goal with 7:24 left in the third quarter to seal a 1-0 victory over No. 15 Wesleyan in cold and rainy conditions. The senior also anchored a defense that allowed a season-low five shots for the Cardinal offense.

Wesleyan – Leila Feldman (La Jolla, Calif.) scored five goals, including her second career hat trick, in a three-game week for Wesleyan. The junior scored the hat trick on Wednesday in a 7-1 home win over Union, then added two goals in a 4-2 win over Colby. That capped a five-game goal-scoring streak for Feldman, who scored seven goals over that five-game span.

Williams – Senior Madeline Rowland (Wilmington, Del.) of the No. 5-ranked Williams field hockey team scored twice, including her second game-winning goal of the season, in a 7-1 victory over Roger Williams Friday evening at Williamson Field.
