What is the best thing about being part of the NESCAC?
The best thing about being part of the NESCAC has been getting to compete in the NESCAC Cross Country and Track & Field Championships. The environment is always extra full of energy on those days, and there is such a strong sense of community, but also competitiveness that brings up the intensity.

You have a blank canvas, paint your perfect day. What does it look like?
I would start my day with a long run at the Airline Trail in Connecticut. Then follow my run with a brunch including an iced latte, homemade chocolate chip pancakes, and fresh fruit. I’d then go to the beach for an afternoon walk, spikeball with my teammates, and read for pleasure. I’d end my day by grilling up some dinner and having a fire for some s’mores, and follow this all up by watching a movie.

What extracurricular activities or service activities do you participate in?
I work as the Lead Fellow in the Office of Sexual Violence Prevention and Advocacy (SVPA), overseeing the other fellows in the office. I also oversee student volunteers and support work on campus creating a culture of consent, providing education about sexual violence and prevention, and help foster supportive spaces on campus for survivors.

As a One Love team representative for the Cross Country and Track & Field teams, I facilitate workshops for my team and other teams about signs of healthy and unhealthy relationships and help share the message of this national organization with Conn’s campus community.

I also serve as a SAAC representative for the Cross Country team and help plan events to support the athletes on campus.

Looking back on your college years, what are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of my team’s ability to set a collective goal and commit to one another to achieve it. It has been amazing to see where this commitment has taken us from qualifying as a team for Cross Country nationals for the first time in school history and then repeating this success the next year to getting to be a part of a Distance Medley Relay team that placed third at NCAAs.

What’s your go-to warmup song?
No Excuses by NF

What is something you enjoy doing that you never get tired of?
I really enjoy reading a good book.

What has been your favorite class?
My favorite class was Mental Health Law. This class provided me with a really deep understanding of legal history and precedent that has dictated the mental health environment. It also solidified my desire to become a lawyer because I was able to see how impactful a career in law could be and that it could directly connect back to my psychology major if I chose to go that route.

What is your favorite place on your campus?
My favorite place on campus is the library, because I spend a lot of time there studying with my teammates, who make doing work fun.

Who has been the most influential person to you during your time in college?
The most influential people in my college career have been Nicole Powell (Director of Sexual Violence Prevention & Advocacy) and Liz Cahn (Assistant Director for Marketing & Events). They oversaw my role as the One Love Fellow during my junior year and have been instrumental in helping me become a leader on campus. Without their endless support in and outside of this role, I have grown increasingly confident, become a better public speaker, and reached more people with conversations about healthy relationships.
