Middlebury opened its game versus the University of Chicago with an 11-1 run and never looked back in a 23-6 win over the Maroons. Hope Shue led the Panthers with four goals and an assist while also collecting three draws, four ground balls, and four caused turnovers. Britt Nawrocki added a hat trick. The Panthers will face York (Pa.) in the quarterfinal contest at Peter Kohn Field on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. In a game that featured a weather delay of over three hours, the Spartans defeated William Smith, 11-8, to extend their win streak to 12 games.
In Waterville, Maine, the Colby Mules and Stevens Ducks were tied 5-5 after the first 30 minutes of action. The Mules exploded for eight goals in the third quarter while limiting Stevens to one score to open up a 13-6 lead. Colby's defense held Stevens scoreless in the fourth quarter when the Mules added four more tallies for the final score, 17-6. Julia Jardina scored five times and added six draw controls while Charlotte Michener netted four goals. Jillian Kane came up with nine saves in the Colby net.
The Mules will face a familiar foe in Wesleyan in the quarterfinals in a game scheduled for 2 p.m. The Cardinals cruised past Rowan, 16-4, in a game played in Waterville. Wesleyan led 12-0 at the half and rolled to the victory and booked a spot in the quarterfinals for just the second time in team history (last: 2019). Kiara Tangney netted a hat trick to lead nine different goal scorers for the Cardinals. Izzy Weintraub made four saves in the Wesleyan goal.
In the season opener on March 1, Colby pulled out a 9-8 win over Wesleyan. Colby's Kins Helmer scored what proved to be the game-winning goal at the 6:55 mark of the fourth quarter. The Cardinals advanced to the NESCAC Championship game and finished as the NESCAC Runners-Up.
Tufts, the top-ranked team in the country, scored 14 first-half goals to cruise to a 16-8 win over visiting Pomona-Pitzer. Madeline Delaney and Margie Carden led the Jumbos with three goals each and 11 different Tufts players scored in the contest. Devon Chipman led a trio of Jumbos in net with seven saves.
Tufts hosts Salisbury at 4:30 p.m. at Bellow Field in the NCAA Quarterfinal game. The Sea Gulls defeated previously unbeaten St. John Fisher, 10-5, in the opening game of the day in Medford.
The quarterfinal winners advance to the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Final Four set for May 23 at Kerr Stadium in Salem, Va. The national championship game will be played on May 25 at Noon at Kerr Stadium.
