NESCAC Player of the Week
Olivia Scholes – Middlebury – So. – OF/UT – Toronto, Ontario
Scholes led the Panthers to a 3-1 NESCAC weekend. The sophomore averaged .588 at the plate, recording 10 hits and eight RBI. Scholes belted two doubles, a triple, and a homer while scoring twice over the four games. The sophomore went 5-for-9 with six RBI in the doubleheader sweep against Bowdoin. Scholes also finished the week with one putout, nine assists on defense.
NESCAC Pitcher of the Week
Sadie Leonard – Williams – Jr. – P – Tiburon, Calif.
Leonard went 3-0 in the circle last week for the No. 13-ranked Ephs. Leonard threw a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts in a 1-0 win during Game 1 of a doubleheader Friday against Bates. The junior also pitched a complete game, striking out 16 batters in a 2-1 win at La Verne on Monday. Leonard also earned the win in Game 1 of a doubleheader at Bowdoin Saturday, throwing six innings and striking out 14.

Amherst – Senior
Dani Torres Werra (Merced, Calif.) went 2-for-4 in Friday's doubleheader at Wesleyan, recording a double and a triple while scoring a pair of runs and reaching base via a walk …
Abby Moravek (Libertyville, Ill.) pitched four innings in relief without allowing an earned run in Friday's doubleheader against Wesleyan. The junior righty struck out three and lowered her season ERA to 0.91. Moravek has not allowed an earned run in five of seven appearances this season.
Bates –
Ella Maher (Newton, Mass.) continued her hot hitting against Williams and Middlebury. The junior went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in a 3-2 win over the No. 13 Williams. Then went 3-for-6 with two doubles, an RBI, and two walks in a doubleheader split with Middlebury. Maher sports a .507 on-base percentage this year, tops on the Bobcats and ninth in the NESCAC. Bates (13-7) is off to the program's best start through 20 games since 2012 …
Brigid Gaffny (North Andover, Mass.) was the winning pitcher in both victories for the Bobcats last week. The rookie tossed four shutout innings, allowing just two hits in a 3-2 win over Williams. Then she did not allow an earned run in four innings pitched, striking out three in a 5-3 win over Middlebury. After starting the year 0-2, Gaffny has been the winning pitcher in each of her last three outings, lowering her season ERA to 2.59 along the way.
Colby –
Carissa Cassidy (Columbus, Ind.) reached base safely in 12 of 16 plate appearances last weekend. The junior hit .556, collecting seven walks and five hits across the two twin bills, while scoring eight runs and driving in five more. After missing the team's first few weeks of the season while competing for Colby's Alpine Ski team at the NCAA Championship where she earned NCAA All-America Second Team honors in the slalom. Cassidy is second in the NESCAC in batting average and on-base percentage … Sophomore
Ashley Correll (Marlborough, Mass.) earned two wins in the circle for the Mules last weekend, giving the sophomore three wins on the season. Correll totaled 12 innings pitched and collected seven strikeouts, including a season-high five strikeouts against Hamilton.
Hamilton – Sophomore
Gaby Guerra (Los Altos, Calif.) went 3-for-4 and scored a run in an 11-10 setback at Colby. The three hits tied a career-high for Guerra.
Middlebury –
Emily Ye (Alameda, Calif.) helped Middlebury split the series with Bates, grabbing a win in the circle in the opener. The newcomer struck out eight batters over seven innings of work to improve to 5-0.
Tufts –
Lauryn Horita (San Mateo, Calif.) hit two huge home runs in Tufts' first game against Wesleyan, helping the Jumbos come back from a 7-0 deficit. Her three-run home run in the sixth inning pulled the Jumbos within one, 7-6. Tufts tied the game in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings. Wesleyan scored to take an 8-7 lead in the top of the eighth. Horita won it for the Jumbos, 9-8, with a two-run, walk-off home run in the bottom of the eighth. She was 2-for-4 with five RBI and two runs scored in the game. The junior went 1-for-3 with a run scored in Game 2, a 9-1 five-inning victory for the Jumbos. For the weekend, she hit .429 … After allowing an unearned run in the first inning of Game 2 against Wesleyan,
Fallon O'Connor (Andover, Mass.) shut down the Cardinals from there in the Jumbos' 9-1 five-inning victory. The sophomore allowed five hits and did not walk a batter in the five innings to earn the victory.
Wesleyan –
Rebecca Cassel-Siskind (Philadelphia, Pa.) had a big week at the plate for Wesleyan, racking up six hits across four games with a .429 batting average, .643 slugging percentage, and six RBI with five runs scored and three stolen bases. The junior started with a walk-off two-run home run as Wesleyan defeated Amherst by mercy rule in Game 1 of a doubleheader, followed by a 2-for-3 effort with two RBI and two runs scored in a Game 2 win against Amherst, securing the first sweep of the Mammoths since 2010. Cassel-Siskind then went 2-for-3 with one double, an RBI, and one stolen base against Tufts on Game 2 in a Sunday doubleheader.
Williams –
Katie Blanch (Rye, N.Y.) went 7-of-18 batting, with five RBI, two doubles, two runs scored and one triple, in a 4-2 week for the No. 13-ranked Ephs. The sophomore went 2-for-4, with two runs, one triple, one RBI, and one walk in an 11-7 win in Game 1 of a doubleheader Saturday at Bowdoin. In Game 2 against Bates on Friday, Blanch went 2-for-2, with one double, one RBI, and one walk.
