Why did you choose to attend Trinity?
I chose Trinity because of the opportunities it provides for both athletics and academics, as well as its beautiful campus, and athletic facilities.
What is your dream job/career?
My dream career is in physical therapy working with youth athletes. I have always been passionate about science, especially how the human body works, and fitness. Physical therapy provides an opportunity to combine these two interests, while allowing me to build close connections with patients and provide them with support as they go through the rehabilitation process.
What extracurricular activities or service activities do you participate in?
I have been a research assistant in Trinity’s Neuroendocrinology Lab since my sophomore year. The lab examines the relationship between hormones and the brain, with our two current projects focusing more broadly on Alzheimer's disease and ADHD. I was able to participate in Trinity’s Interdisciplinary Science Program (ISP) my freshman year which introduced me to research, and from there I knew I enjoyed running and assisting with experiments and wanted to get more experience. My involvement in research at Trinity has also provided some awesome experiences such as attending the Neuroscience 2024 conference in Chicago this past fall.
What has been your favorite class outside of your major?
I really enjoyed tennis class, squash class, and introduction to recording arts. The tennis and squash classes were fun ways to get some activity in in the middle of the day while learning a new sport. Recording arts was a creative outlet as we learned to mix and produce our own songs throughout the semester.
Have you studied abroad during your collegiate experience?
I participated in Trinity’s J-term Rome program during winter break of my junior year. It was an amazing experience, and I took a class on food and culture. We got to explore local food markets in Rome, participate in a wine tasting, and dive into the backstories of some of our favorite foods. While in Rome I was also able to travel around different parts of Italy and enjoyed visiting Florence, Milan, and Lake Como. It was a great experience, especially as someone who had not been to Europe before!
What internships/research projects have you participated in?
Last summer I was a sports medicine physical therapy intern at Hartford Hospital’s Bone and Joint Institute. It was a really cool experience and I was able to get exposure to all different aspects of sports medicine. In addition to helping with day-to-day tasks at the clinic, I got to help out with swing analyses for golf fans at the Travelers Championship, assist with strength and conditioning at a youth golf camp, and even help with athlete testing at the Keep Her Playing Conference in the fall. This experience definitely solidified my plans to pursue physical therapy, and gave me a good idea of what to expect from the career in a sports medicine setting.
What is the greatest lesson you have learned from being a student-athlete?
Being a student-athlete has taught me the importance of having a strong work ethic and discipline. I am a firm believer that what you get out of your experience as a student-athlete is a testament to what you what you put into it. Dedication to my studies, softball, and lifting has kept me on track throughout my college career and I think the habits I have built in the past four years will continue to pay off after graduation.
What is your favorite place on your campus?
My favorite place on campus is the official strength and conditioning center of Trinity College. Our team has a great culture in the weight room, and we spend a lot of time there in the off season getting stronger together. Before college I did not realize the importance lifting has while playing a college sport, but it has since become one of the best parts of my experience as a student-athlete at Trinity.
What is something interesting about you that others might not know
I do not eat any fruits.
What is something you enjoy doing when not in class or competing in your sport?
I enjoy hiking, running, and reading.
