NESCAC Player of the Week
Genna Gibbons – Tufts – Sr. – D – Menlo Park, Calif.
Gibbons tallied five ground balls, four caused turnovers, and a team-high nine draw controls in a victory over Amherst in the only game of the week for the Jumbos. The senior single-handedly changed momentum in a close game against No. 13 Amherst late in the first half, as she stripped a clearing pass, picked up the ball, and scored 1-on-1 to make it a 9-6 game with 27 seconds left in the frame. Tufts scored twice more in the final 27 seconds and outscored Amherst 9-3 in the second half to pull away for a 20-9 win.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst –
Sydney Kang (Port Washington, N.Y.) scored a goal and a career-high seven assists in a 21-3 win over Framingham State last week. King has matched or surpassed her career high in games played (10), assists (13), points (18), ground balls (9), and caused turnovers (3).
Bowdoin – Senior
Lauren Burke (Wellesley, Mass.) scored four goals Saturday in a loss to Wesleyan.
Colby –
Ainsley Dion (North Andover, Mass.) had seven goals and an assist in two Colby wins last week. The senior's four goals Saturday helped Colby post a 9-8 win over Williams and clinched a spot in the NESCAC Tournament. Dion has scored a goal in seven straight games and reached new career-highs with 21 goals and 25 points this season.
Conn. College – Senior midfielder
Aine Downey (Brookline, Mass.) paced Conn. in its only game of the week, as the Camels battled Hamilton on Saturday. Downey led Conn. with six goals, while adding four draw controls, three ground balls, and two caused turnovers in the senior's final home game of her career.
Hamilton –
Maddigan Leifer (Shelton, Conn.) scored seven goals as the Continentals won both of their games. Leifer posted three goals, including one that tied the score at 11-11 midway through the fourth quarter of Hamilton's 13-11 win at Connecticut College. The junior added two ground balls, a caused turnover, and a draw control. Leifer tied a career high with four goals and won six draws in a 15-4 victory against Rochester earlier in the week.
Middlebury –
Maggie Coughlin (Hanover, Mass.) led the top-ranked Panthers to their 65th consecutive triumph with a season-high eight points (4G, 4A) in a 19-10 victory over No. 15 Trinity. During the contest, Coughlin surpassed the 100-goal mark. The senior is four helpers away from becoming just the fourth player in program history to have 100 markers and 100 assists in a career, and four points from 200. Coughlin sits in the top five in the NESCAC in total assists (24), assists per game (1.71), total points (51), and points per contest (3.64).
Trinity –
Kelsey Restivo (Sayville, N.Y.) led the Bantams’ offense during a 1-1 week of action, tallying eight points with four goals and four assists. During a 14-11 win over Colorado College, Restivo logged a team-high four points with two goals and two assists, with her second goal sparking a 7-0 run from Trinity en route to the win. Restivo added two goals and two assists in a 19-10 loss to Middlebury.
Wesleyan – Junior
Elle Priesing (Scotch Plains, N.J.) had a career day in the lone game for Wesleyan last week, registering her first career four-goal game while adding two assists for a career-high six points in an 18-11 win over Bowdoin at home. Priesing added two ground balls and one draw control.
Williams –
Caroline Pratt (Fairfield, Conn.) of the No. 25-ranked Williams College women's lacrosse team made 18 saves and allowed 12 goals for a .600 save percentage in a 1-1 week for the Ephs. The senior made seven saves and allowed just three goals for a .700 save percentage in a 14-3 victory over Cortland on Wednesday. Against No. 3 Colby Saturday, she reached double-digit saves for the fifth time this season with 11.
