HADLEY, Mass. – The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) announced its men's ice hockey awards for the 2024-25 season on Wednesday as voted by the league’s coaches.
Hamilton forward Luke Tchor was voted as the NESCAC Player of the Year. Tchor, the conference Rookie of the Year and an All-NESCAC First Team selection last season, is the first Hamilton player to garner the Player of the Year honor since 2017 (Evan Buitenhuis) and it is the fifth time a Continental has been honored. Tchor leads the NESCAC in goals (15) and points (32) in 25 games.
Continental teammate Charlie Archer is the second player to be named the NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year after the award’s inception last season. The goalie owns the top goals against average (1.44) and save percentage (.939) in the conference, to go along with four shutouts.
Trinity newcomer Ty Broad is the NESCAC Rookie of the Year. The forward is the first Bantam to earn the honor since 2019 (Lucas Michaud) and the third Trinity player overall to be recognized (Ryan Cole, 2014). Broad contributed 11 goals, including two game-winners, and nine assists for 20 points in 23 games played. He helped the Bantams earn the No. 2 seed in the NESCAC Tournament and post a 16-7-2 record.
Hamilton head coach Rob Haberbusch was voted the NESCAC Coach of the Year by his peers. Haberbusch, who is in his 12th season behind the bench and has 143 wins, earns the honor for the second time in his career (2017). He has guided the Continentals to their most wins since the 2017 season (18), the No. 1 seed in the NESCAC Championship, and will lead Hamilton into the semifinals at Sage Rink on Saturday, March 8.
