NESCAC Player of the Week
Caroline Pratt – Williams – Sr. – G – Fairfield, Conn.
Pratt made 36 saves and posted a .706 save percentage, as she went 3-0 in goal for the Ephs last week. She made a career-high 13 saves, including 10 in the first half, and allowed just one goal in 45 minutes of action in a 15-2 win at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Monday. Pratt made 11 saves and in a 16-6 win at No. 11 Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday. Pratt stopped another 12 shots, including four in the fourth quarter, in a 10-8 NESCAC triumph over Connecticut College on Saturday.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst –
Bridget Finley (Bronxville, N.Y.) scored six goals on eight shots on Saturday, including the game-winner, as the Mammoths defeated Stevens Institute on the road, 16-11. The six goals were a season-high for Finley. The junior was 2-for-2 on free position shots in the win. Finley ranks second on the team with 19 goals.
Bates – Senior
Caroline Taggart (Concord, Mass.) scored a goal and matched her season high with four assists on Friday night against No. 15 Trinity. Her 2.0 assists per game lead the NESCAC this season.
Colby –
Julia Jardina (Louisville, Ky.) tied a season-high with five goals in a 9-7 win over No. 3 Franklin & Marshall. The senior tallied one goal in each of the first two quarters and then struck for all three of Colby's scores in the final 25 minutes of play as the Mules held on for their seventh straight win to open the season. In the Mules’ first loss of the season on Saturday at Tufts, Jardina tallied two more goals and an assist. The senior leads the NESCAC with 3.88 goals per game.
Conn. College – Junior attack
Elizabeth Gill (Hingham, Mass.) had a solid week, leading Conn. College to a 1-1 record. On Wednesday in the Camels’ final non-conference game of the year, Gill had a career day, leading Conn. College to an 18-7 win at Westfield State. Gill recorded a career-high six points, scoring three goals and adding three assists while also causing a turnover and collecting a ground ball. On Saturday against Williams, Gill added another goal and an assist. With Conn. College trailing 5-4 late in the first half, Gill connected with junior
Campbell Johnston (Duxbury, Mass.), who beat the buzzer to even the score, before opening the scoring herself in the second half to put the Camels ahead 6-5. Gill finished the week with eight points on four goals and four assists, one caused turnover, and one ground ball.
Hamilton –
Alex Orlando (Pelham, N.Y.) posted seven points in a 1-1 weekend for the Continentals. Orlando scored three goals and added an assist, tied a career-high with four ground balls, caused two turnovers, and won a draw control in a 13-9 win against Bowdoin. The next day, in a 12-7 setback against Middlebury, the senior notched three goals and four ground balls and registered a career-best three caused turnovers.
Middlebury – Trailing 8-7 heading into the fourth quarter against No. 7 Wesleyan,
Kelcey Dion (North Andover, Mass.) rattled off a hat trick to lift No. 1 Middlebury to a 10-9 win over the Cardinals. The Panther tallied the game-winning goal with 3:15 remaining to secure the victory. Dion also contributed a goal and an assist in a 12-7 win at Hamilton to help Middlebury extend its win streak to 61 straight games.
Trinity –
Ivy Armentrout (Lymon, Maine) led the Bantams’ offense to a 16-12 NESCAC victory over Bates, tallying five points on three goals and two assists. The first year delivered back-to-back assists on first-period goals for Trinity and then added a second-period strike to help extend the Bantams’ lead. Leading 13-12 late in the fourth, Armentrout potted her third goal of the day to give Trinity an insurance marker en route to the win.
Tufts – Junior attack
Allie Zorn (Bedford, Mass.) tallied nine points over two games for the Jumbos, who remained undefeated with wins over MIT and No. 5 Colby. Thursday against MIT, Zorn tallied three goals and added an assist. In the 17-6 win over the Mules, she recorded five points on three scores and two assists, adding a ground ball and a caused turnover. Zorn ranks third in the NESCAC in points per game with 4.33.
Wesleyan – Junior
Elle Priesing (Scotch Plains, N.J.) recorded her first career hat trick on Saturday against Middlebury, adding one assist for a career-high four points.
