Amherst and Middlebury earned quarterfinal wins in the NCAA Division III Women's Ice Hockey Championship to advance to the Frozen Four next weekend in River Falls, Wisconsin.
The Mammoths and Panthers will play each other in one semifinal game while the other semifinal features Augsburg versus UW-River Falls. Amherst is making its fifth appearance in the Frozen Four and first since 2023 while Middlebury is returning to for the second consecutive season and the 11th time in team history.
Amherst and Middlebury will meet for the fourth time this season and the season series stands at 1-1-1. In the regular season series at Middlebury on January 17-18, the teams skated to a 1-1 tie in the first game with Middlebury winning a shootout 2-1. The Panthers earned a 3-1 win in the second game of the series, but the Mammoths earned a 1-0 win on their home ice to claim the NESCAC Championship.
The 2025 championship marks the 14th time in the 21-year history of the tournament at least one NESCAC team has advanced to the Frozen Four. The Mammoths and Panthers will square off in a national semifinal for the second time (last: 2009).

Rookie Bea Flynn scored the opening goals of the game and second period to lead Amherst to a 4-1 victory over NESCAC foe Colby. Ayla Abban and Natalie Fu added goals around Flynn's second-period marker to give the Mammoths a 4-0 lead. Colby's Anya Jiang ruined the shutout and put the Mules on the board at 4:57 of the final frame. Natalie Stott made 19 saves in the Amherst net to pick up the win while Mandy Busky was credited with 27 saves for Colby.
Middlebury (21-6-1) def. Nazareth (21-7-1), 1-0 | Box Score
Sophomore Kate Flynn scored with 6:40 left in the second period and the Middlebury Panthers made the goal stand up the rest of the way en route to a 1-0 victory over Nazareth. Sophia Will made 23 saves, including 10 in the final frame, to earn the shutout. McKinley Hoff posted 30 saves for the Golden Flyers.
