NESCAC Player of the Week
Mandy Busky – Colby – Sr. – G – Ellington, Conn.
Busky posted her fourth and fifth shutouts of the season against top-ranked Middlebury in the final weekend of regular season play to help Colby sweep the Panthers in Waterville. Collecting 26 saves in the opener and another 29, including 13 in the third period, in Saturday's matinee, the senior improved her record to 10-1-2 in net this season. Entering the weekend series, Middlebury averaged 3.2 goals per game, but Busky and the Colby defense kept the Panthers scoreless for the first time this season. The goaltender leads the NESCAC in save percentage with 0.961 and is second in goals against average at 0.91.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst – Junior
Natalie Sott (Franklin, Mass.) stopped 53 of the 54 shots she faced as the Mammoths swept Hamilton, 5-1 and 1-0 in overtime, to capture the No. 1 seed in the NESCAC Tournament for the third year in a row. Stott made 23 saves Friday night in the 5-1 win, then stopped all 30 shots she faced, including 11 in the third period and two in overtime, in the Mammoths’ 1-0 win. It was the 12th shutout of the season for Amherst, and the 11th Stott played a part in.
Bowdoin – Junior
Abigail Ainley (Cranston, R.I.) assisted on three goals in the Polar Bears' 4-0 win over Williams on Friday. The win clinched the first home NESCAC Quarterfinal game for Bowdoin since 2014.
Conn. College – Senior goaltender
Maeve Corcoran (Milton, Mass.) made just her second career start as Conn. wrapped up the regular season against Worcester State on Saturday night. Corcoran recorded her first career win, making 10 saves, as the Camels defeated the Lancers 4-1 in their final tune-up before the NESCAC Tournament gets underway next weekend.
Hamilton –
Grace Long (Milton, Mass.) picked up the second assist of the sophomore's career in the Continentals' 5-1 setback at Amherst on Friday.
Evie Sheridan (Syracuse, N.Y.) made 28 saves in a 1-0 overtime loss against the Mammoths on Saturday in the junior's first start in goal since Jan. 21.
Trinity – Sophomore
Madeline Carter (Oak Park, Ill.) recorded a 1.50 goals against average with a .925 save percentage and 37 saves in a pair of Trinity wins over Wesleyan that helped the Bantams secure the seventh-seed in the NESCAC Tournament. In a 2-2 shootout victory over the Cardinals in the series opener, Carter stopped 23 shots and held the Cardinals 0-for-3 during their shootout attempts. Carter added 14 shots in a 3-1 win in the regular season finale.
Williams – Junior
Leah Rubinshteyn (Summit, N.J.) scored the game-winning goal with 1:01 remaining in the third period in a 3-2 win over No. 8-ranked Plattsburgh State on Tuesday. It was the first-ever win for the Ephs' over Plattsburgh.
