HADLEY, Mass. – The Hamilton Continentals are the No. 1 seed for the 2025 NESCAC Men’s Ice Hockey Championship for the first time since 2017. The Continentals finished the regular season with 41 points.
The NESCAC Men’s Ice Hockey Championship gets underway on Saturday, March 1, with quarterfinal games at the higher seeds. The highest remaining seed among the quarterfinal winners will host the semifinals on March 8 and the championship game on March 9.
Tiebreakers
Tufts and Amherst both finished with 26 points. In head-to-head competition, each team recorded a regulation win. In comparing the number of overall conference regulation wins, Tufts registered 8 and Amherst recorded 7. As a result, Tufts earned the No. 5 seed and Amherst is the No. 6 seed.
No. 1 Hamilton Continentals (17-6-1, 13-4-1 NESCAC) vs. No. 8 Conn. College Camels (9-13-2, 7-10-1 NESCAC)
- Hamilton is the No. 1 seed for the second time in program history. The last time the Continentals were the No. 1 seed, in 2017, they advanced to the championship game.
- The Continentals will host a quarterfinal game for the third straight championship.
- Hamilton leads the NESCAC in goals scored (91), goals per game (3.79), assists (161), and assists per game (6.71), and has allowed a league-low 45 goals.
- Luke Tchor leads the NESCAC in goals scored with (24) and points (31).
- Hamilton has reached the semifinals in five of the last eight championships, including last season.
- Conn. College is playing in the NESCAC Tournament for the fourth time in five seasons and is the No. 8 seed for the first time since 2020.
- The Camels are looking to pick up their second NESCAC postseason win in program history. Their first NESCAC Tournament win came in 2015.
- Conn. College won the only meeting with Hamilton in the NESCAC Tournament, a 4-3 victory in the 2015 quarterfinals. The Continentals swept the series during the regular season, winning 3-1 and 3-0.
No. 2 Trinity Bantams (16-6-2, 12-4-2 NESCAC) vs. No. 7 Middlebury Panthers (12-11-1, 8-9-1 NESCAC)
- Trinity, the defending NESCAC Champion, is the No. 2 seed for the second time in three championships.
- The Bantams earned home ice for the quarterfinals for the 12th championship in a row.
- Trinity has qualified for 24 of the 25 NESCAC Championships and has played in seven of the last nine championship games.
- Spencer Korona leads the NESCAC in assists (23) and ranks second in points (28) this season.
- Middlebury is making back-to-back trips to the NESCAC Championship for the first time since the 2019 and 2020 seasons.
- The Panthers were semifinalists last year after earning a quarterfinal upset as the No. 7 seed.
- The NESCAC Tournament series is knotted at 3-3. The Bantams evened the series with a 5-2 win over the Panthers in last year’s semifinal round. During the regular season, Trinity posted a pair of 4-2 wins versus Middlebury.
No. 3 Colby Mules (13-5-6, 8-5-5 NESCAC) vs. No. 6 Amherst Mammoths (11-11-2, 8-8-2 NESCAC)
- Colby is the No. 3 seed for the first time since 2007 and has earned a home quarterfinal game for the first time since 2022.
- The Mules qualified for their fourth consecutive NESCAC Championship and eighth in nine tournaments.
- Colby has reached the semifinals in two of the last three tournaments and last played in the championship game in 2022.
- Colby is unbeaten in its last seven games (3-0-4) and has played six overtime games in that span.
- Amherst is the No. 6 seed for the first time since 2002 after clinching a spot in the tournament field with a 5-2 win over Williams in the final game of the regular season.
- The Mammoths have qualified for every NESCAC Championship.
- Amherst enters the tournament having won three straight games.
- Colby owns a 2-1 edge in the tournament series, but the Mammoths won the last meeting in the 2019 quarterfinals. The Mules swept the regular season series, 3-2 and 4-2.
No. 4 Bowdon Polar Bears (9-12-3, 7-8-3 NESCAC) vs. No. 5 Tufts Jumbos (10-12-1, 8-10-0 NESCAC)
- Bowdoin is the No. 4 seed for the first time since 2003 and will host a quarterfinal for the second straight tournament.
- The Polar Bears are making their fifth consecutive appearance in the NESCAC Tournament.
- Bowdoin put together a seven-game unbeaten streak (4-0-3) in the second half of the season.
- Tufts, last year’s NESCAC Runners-Up, is the No. 5 seed for the first time in program history.
- The Jumbos have qualified for the tournament for the fourth year in a row and eighth time in the last nine championships.
- Tufts played in its first NESCAC Championship game in program history last season.
- The Jumbos and Polar Bears will face off for the second time in a week after Tufts earned a 5-0 win in the regular season finale in Medford, Mass. The Polar Bears won the series' first game, 4-3, on their home ice. The quarterfinal matchup marks the first time the teams will square off in the NESCAC Tournament.
