Tufts Wins NESCAC Men's Cross Country Title for First Time Since 2012

WATERFORD, Conn. – The Tufts Jumbos claimed the 2025 NESCAC Men’s Cross Country Championship trophy with a convincing win in the race hosted by Conn. College at Harkness Park in Waterford, Conn.

Tufts earned its first NESCAC title since 2012 with a 27-point win over runner-up Williams, snapping the Ephs’ streak of five straight NESCAC trophies. Led by Jonah Reisner’s runner-up performance (24:22.6), the Jumbos placed four runners in the top seven and the fifth Tufts scorer crossed the finish line in 11th place to secure the win. The victory was the fifth NESCAC title in Tufts' team history.

Williams sophomore Eli Welch posted a 2.4-second victory (24:20.2) over Reisner of Tufts to claim the individual men's title. Welch is the third consecutive Eph to win the NESCAC title and is the sixth Williams runner in the last seven championship races to capture the individual honor.

Williams finished as the runner-up and was the only other team with three or more athletes among the top ten finishers. Amherst placed third with Harrison Dow (24:25.8) and Stan Craig (24:32.3) finishing third and fifth, respectively. Wesleyan posted its best team finish since 2010 with a fourth-place showing, and Middlebury rounded out the top five teams in the team standings.
