NESCAC Football Weekly Release - Oct. 27, 2025

Every Monday during the season, NESCAC Players of the Week will be selected based on information submitted by the athletic communications offices at member institutions.

NESCAC Football Offensive Player of the Week
Hudson Weidman – Tufts – So. – QB – Boxford, Mass.
Weidman totaled four touchdowns Tufts’ 41-20 win over Williams College. Weidman was an efficient 17-fo-23 for a career-high 335 yards on 73.9 percent passing and three touchdowns. The sophomore added 46 yards on the ground with one rushing score. Weidman connected on touchdown passes of 72 yards, 10 yards and 22 yards, while his 10-yard rushing score was the first rushing touchdown of his career. He also helped Tufts post a pair of 100-yard receivers for the first time since the 2023 season.

NESCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week
Lincoln Merrill – Colby – Jr. – LB – West Paris, Maine
Merrill led Colby's defense in a win against Hamilton. The junior tallied one sack for a loss of four yards on Hamilton’s final drive in the fourth quarter and had a career-high 11 tackles, tying the mark he set a week ago when he had 11 tackles against Amherst. Colby's defense has allowed 10 or fewer points in three of the last four games.

NESCAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Dylan Connors – Wesleyan – Sr. – DB – West Milford, N.J.
Connors’ blocked punt and return for a touchdown midway through the third quarter gave the Cardinals a 10-point lead in an eventual 31-21 win over Amherst. Connors broke through the line and blocked the Mammoths’ attempt, scooped up the loose ball at the 11-yard line and returned it for a touchdown. The senior’s contributions helped lead the Cardinal defense which shutout Amherst in the second half and forced four turnovers and two turnovers on downs in the win.

Amherst
 – Carter Jung (Menlo Park, Calif.) had two touchdowns, one rushing and one receiving, in the Mammoths 31-21 loss at Wesleyan Saturday. The senior’s 21-yard receiving touchdown gave Amherst a 14-7 lead in the first half. Jung finished with 57 yards receiving on seven receptions. The receiver’s seven touchdown catches rank second in the conference … Senior Kevin Agnew (Chatham, N.J.) had four tackles and one interception against the Cardinals. Agnew returned the interception 61 yards for a touchdown. It was the fourth interception of his career and first of the season. 

Bates Jeff Vidou (Cornish, N.H.) made the most of his three catches Saturday at Middlebury, tallying a career-high 115 receiving yards, the most by a Bobcat this season. The sophomore’s longest catch against the Panthers went for 65 yards … Carmel Crunk (Lancaster, Calif.) tallied a career-high 19 tackles versus the Panthers, including a game-high six solo stops and a half tackle for loss. Crunk ranks second to teammate Ryan Rozich (Cromwell, Conn.) in the NESCAC in total tackles with 63 this season … Parker Huynh-Benningfield (Austin, Texas) averaged 34.5 yards per punt against Middlebury, his best mark since Week 2 of the season. The senior pinned the Panthers inside their own 20-yard line twice on Saturday, continuing a breakout campaign that's seen Huynh-Benningfield pin the opposition inside their own 20-yard line 12 times, tied for the third-most times in the NESCAC.

Bowdoin – First-year receiver Jude Baker (Kentfield, Calif.) had a career-high five catches for 54 yards against Trinity on Saturday. Rookie linebacker Noah DiRenzo (Kentfield, Calif.) had a career-best seven tackles for the Polar Bears.

Colby – Patrick Miller (Milton, Mass.) led Colby to a win over Hamilton in his first collegiate start.  The first-year signal caller was efficient in the air with a 12-for-19 effort for 78 yards and a touchdown and carried the ball 15 times for 119 yards. Miller helped the Mules convert scores on all three trips to the red zone … Rookie Avi Gotshalk (Salt Lake City, Utah) nailed his first career field goal with four minutes left in the fourth quarter Saturday against Hamilton. The 36-yard strike was the lefty's first career attempt and gave Colby a seven-point lead late in the contest.  Gotshalk was also perfect on his two PATs and kicked off four times, sending three kicks through the end zone for touchbacks. 

Hamilton – Jack Hoag (Woodbine, N.J.) set career highs with 12 catches for 115 yards in a 17-10 setback at Colby. It was Hoag's first 100-yard game. The junior entered the day with 11 receptions all season … Senior John Young (Seacaucus, N.J.) was credited with a team-high eight tackles, including five solo stops, and led a defense that allowed a season-low 242 yards against the Mules … Sophomore Tani Smart (Stamford, Conn.) forced a fumble on a punt return that the Continentals recovered at the Colby four-yard line and led to their lone touchdown. The forced fumble was Smart's first at Hamilton. Senior Henry Rubey (New Albany, Ohio) punted four times and three of them landed inside the Colby 20, which was a season high for the senior.

Middlebury – Connor McClellan (Columbus, Ohio) excelled on the ground against Bates. In the 34-16 triumph, McClellan ran the ball a career-high 31 times for 121 yards. The Panther also punched the ball in the endzone three times from 1, 6, and 9 yards out to tie his career best. McClellan leads the NESCAC in total rushing touchdowns (9) and is second with 650 rushing yards and 92.9 yards per game … Shane Johnson (Plainsboro, N.J.) recorded a season-high seven tackles (3 solo) to lead Middlebury’s defensive unit against the Bobcats. The Panther also had a key play in punt coverage at the midway point of the fourth quarter, recovering a muffed punt inside the Bobcats' 20-yard line. The fumble led to a field goal that extended Middlebury’s lead to two possessions … Senior Tony Wang (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) bested his previous career-high with 10 points against Bates. The Panther converted a 33-yard and a 24-yard field goal attempt and was a perfect 4-for-4 on point-after attempts to help propel Middlebury to a 34-16 victory over the Bobcats. Wang also handled kickoff duties, tallying five touchbacks on seven attempts. The Panther is two made field goals away from tying the program’s single-season record.

Trinity – Sophomore Josh Woodford (Union, N.J.) helped lead the Bantams offense to a 45-3 victory at Bowdoin, racking up a career-high 120 all-purpose yards with career-highs of 88 yards rushing and 32 yards receiving with a touchdown … Rookie Max Wallace (Wakefield, R.I.) delivered a perfect performance versus the Polar Bears, going 6-for-6 on PATs, along with a 26-yard field goal to help propel Trinity to victory.

Tufts - Sophomore defensive back Amari Watson (Acworth, Ga.) totaled four tackles and had a fourth-quarter interception that essentially sealed the 41-20 win over Williams. On the pick, Watson collected a tipped pass and raced 27 yards on the return to set up a Tufts touchdown to give the Jumbos a three-score lead. The pick was his first career interception … Vaughn Seelicke (Little Rock, Ark.) was an efficient 5-for-5 on extra point attempts against the Ephs. Seelicke is three points shy of becoming the all-time points leader at Tufts. The senior is 19-for-19 on extra points and 5-of-6 on field goals this year.

Wesleyan – Blake Newcomb (Concord, Mass.) dominated in the receiving game, posting seven catches for 108 yards and one touchdown to go along with a two-point conversion catch in a 31-21 win over Amherst. The 108 receiving yards are the most the Amherst defense has allowed to a single player through seven games this year while the junior wideout posted his third 100-yard game of the season.

Williams Zach Falls (Duxbury, Mass.) registered eight receptions for 143 yards and one touchdown at Tufts on Saturday. The sophomore posted a 52-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter … Zakkai Moore (Meriden, Conn.) led the Ephs’ defense with 10 tackles (6 solo, 4 assisted) against the Jumbos … Senior George Papadopoulos (Falls Church, Va.) had a kickoff return for 34 yards in the second quarter at Tufts.
