NESCAC Field Hockey Weekly Release - Oct. 13, 2025

Every Monday during the season, one NESCAC Player of the Week will be selected based on information submitted by the athletic communications offices at member institutions.

NESCAC Field Hockey Player of the Week
Emily Smith – Wesleyan – Fy. – Midfield – Boston, Mass.
Smith scored both goals for the Cardinals in a 2-1 double overtime win at Middlebury, marking the first time Wesleyan has beaten the Panthers on the road. The two goals against Middlebury were the first goals of Smith's career, as the rookie netted a game-tying goal late in the third quarter off a penalty corner to send the game into overtime. Then with 1:23 left in the second overtime period, Smith netted the game-winner as Wesleyan beat Middlebury for the first time since 2000. On Saturday, Smith assisted the only goal scored in Wesleyan’s 1-0 win at Williams. That goal proved vital as the Cardinals recorded a shutout over the Ephs, clinching the Little Three Championship for just the fourth time in team history and the first time since 2003.

Tufts Hannah Murray (Worcester, Mass.) scored a goal in both games as the Jumbos earned a pair of 3-1 victories over Amherst and Bates last week, helping Tufts take over sole possession of first place in the conference standings. The sophomore’s goal against Amherst broke a 1-1 tie and put Tufts in front 2-1 early in the second half. Against Bates, Murray converted a penalty stroke in the second quarter that was the game's first goal to give the Jumbos a 1-0 advantage.
