NESCAC Player of the Week
Ty Broad – Trinity – Fy. – F – Buffalo, N.Y.
Broad potted a pair of goals with a pair of assists in a 2-0 weekend for the Bantams. In a 5-1 win over Bowdoin, Broad scored the game-winning goal with a short-handed snipe in the second period, and then added an assist on the Bantams third goal of the game. Tied 1-1 against Colby, Broad delivered the assist to give the Bantams a 2-1 lead, and scored in the second period to push Trinity’s lead to 3-1 in an eventual 5-3 victory.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst – Rookie
Cristobal Tobal (Georgetown, Ontario) scored two power-play goals, including the game-winner, in a 3-1 Mammoths win over Tufts last week. The goals were his second and third of the season.
Bowdoin – Senior
Luke Wheeler (Golden, Colo.) had a goal in each game as the Polar Bears split a road weekend in Connecticut that included a 5-4 win over Wesleyan on Saturday.
Colby –
Will Soloway (Bannockburn, Ill.) tallied the deciding score in Friday night's shootout win over Wesleyan. The first year was the fourth Mule to take center ice and the third to score in the shootout. In Saturday's setback at No. 11 Trinity, Soloway recorded his eighth assist of the season early in the third period to bring Colby within one goal at the time.
Conn. College – Senior forward
Jack Luca (Milton, Mass.) was involved in both goals that Conn. scored over the weekend. On Friday night, Luca picked up an assist on Will Lawrence’s game-tying goal midway through the second period. On Saturday against Hamilton, Luca tallied the lone Camels goal, banging home a rebound early in the third period as Conn. tried to come back against the Continentals.
Hamilton –
Jackson Krock (Mars, Pa.) scored a goal and added two assists in a 6-1 win at Tufts. It was Krock's second multi-point game this season and second career two-assist performance. The junior center helped the Continentals win their sixth straight game by winning 15-of-26 faceoffs and blocking a shot in a 3-1 victory at Connecticut College.
Middlebury –
Jackson Morehouse (Pittsburgh, Pa.) factored into six of Middlebury’s eight goals in a 1-1 week. The Panther tallied a hat trick and two assists in a 7-0 shutout over Saint Michael’s. On Saturday, Morehouse dished out an assist to help Middlebury tie Plattsburgh State and send the contest to overtime. The sophomore’s five points are the most in a single game in the NESCAC this season.
Tufts –
Gustave Bylin (Montclair, N.J.) made a career-high 43 saves on Saturday in Tufts' 5-2 victory over Amherst College, recording a .956 save percentage in the game. The junior also saw action in Friday night's game against Hamilton College. In 83 minutes over the weekend, Bylin saved 55 of the 59 shots he face (.932) and recorded a 2.89 goals against average.
Wesleyan –
Connor Sutherland (West Roxbury, Mass.) led the Cardinals with two goals and two assists for four points in three games last week. The sophomore assisted on the game-winner in a 3-2 win on Tuesday night in a game where the Cardinals came back from 2-0 down. Sutherland followed with two goals, his second multi-goal game of the season, on Friday against Colby and finished with one assist on Saturday against Bowdoin.
Williams – Sophomore
Nate Heithoff (Minneapolis, Minn.) assisted the game-winning tally in the third period in the Ephs' 5-4 victory at Plattsburgh State Saturday evening. The victory over Plattsburgh State gave Williams Head Coach Bill Kangas his 450th career win.
