NESCAC Field Hockey Player of the Week
Amy Griffin - Sr. - M - Wilmette, Ill.
Griffin registered seven points (2G, 3A) and factored into five of Middlebury’s seven goals in a 2-0 NESCAC weekend. The Panther recorded a pair of helpers in Saturday’s 3-0 win at Amherst, before scoring twice and assisting on a third marker to help Middlebury top Wesleyan 5-0.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst –
Anna Aiello (Hong Kong, China) netted a hat trick, including the opening tally, in a 4-0 win over Western New England in a 1-1 week for the Mammoths. The goals were the junior’s first three of the year.
Bates –
Moloney-Kolenberg (Winchester, Mass.) dished out an assist and scored the game-winning goal on Wednesday against Thomas College. The junior also delivered the insert on the penalty corner that led to Bates’ goal at Wesleyan on Saturday.
Bowdoin – Senior
Maya Malenfant (Weston, Mass.) scored twice in a midweek 3-0 win at Wellesley. Malenfant leads the Polar Bears with six goals and three assists this season.
Colby -
Bridget Everett (Osterville, Mass.) scored Colby's first two goals in Sunday's win over Husson. The sophomore’s first tally opened the scoring two minutes into the game, and her second score put the Mules in front for good shortly after the Eagles tied the contest. It was Everett's first multi-goal game at Colby.
Connecticut College –
Rowan Galanis’ (Ipswich, Mass.) penalty stroke propelled Connecticut College to its first NESCAC victory of the year, 1-0, at Colby. It was the seniors’ first career game-winning tally. Galanis ranks second on the team in scoring with a pair of goals through six games.
Hamilton - Senior
Lydon Kelley (Andover, Mass.) scored midway through the fourth quarter and lifted the Continentals to a 2-1 win against Union. Kelley leads the team with three goals and six points. Senior
Delaney Grace (Halifax, Mass.) also scored the 13th goal of her career against the Garnet Chargers.
Tufts – Goalie
Lydia Eastburn (New Hope, Pa.) backed the Jumbos' defensive effort as they earned shutouts at MIT (2-0) on Wednesday and at Hamilton College (3-0) in NESCAC action on Saturday. The junior had three saves in each game. The Jumbos have earned shutout wins in three straight games and four shutouts in their six games this season. Tufts has allowed 28 shots (19 on goal) in the six games.
Wesleyan -
Helen Deretchin (Circleville, N.Y.) had a six-point week for the Cardinals who went 2-1 with wins at Roger Williams and Bates at home. The senior was one of four Cardinal goal scorers in a 4-2 win over the Hawks. Deretchin added a four-point afternoon as Wesleyan defeated Bates 5-1, securing the Cardinals’ first win over the Bobcats since 2014. Deretchin assisted the game-winning goal by senior
Imani Ochieng (Pottstown, Pa.) and assisted another goal that made it 3-0 in the first half and completed the day with a second-half goal that extended her goal-scoring streak to three straight games.
Williams – Sophomore
Haley McAuslin (Cumberland, Maine) finished with two goals and one assist, including the game-winning tally, in a 4-0 victory at Trinity on Saturday in the Ephs’ only game of the week.
