NESCAC SUMMER SPOTLIGHT: Josie Steinberg, Tufts Softball

Josie Steinberg of the Tufts Softball team was the three-time NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year, a NFCA All-American, a College Sports Communicators Academic All-American, and earned a spot on the All-NESCAC team three times during her career. In Josie's own words she shares what playing at Tufts meant to her and what she is doing following graduation ...

Hi my name is Josie Steinberg. I was a member of the Tufts Softball team for five years and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Quantitative Economics and a Master's of Science in Innovation and Management. After graduation, I am working at Jefferies, a full-service investment banking and capital markets firm, in the Investment Banking Division with the Media Communication and Information Services group.

I am incredibly grateful for all I have learned from the Tufts Softball program that has prepared me for the beginning of my career. Being an athlete at Tufts is to be surrounded by excellence. The culture of hard work will absolutely carry into my everyday life and I will never forget the lessons I have learned from teammates, coaches, athletes, trainers and more.

In hindsight, I am going to miss spending time with my teammates the most. Since 2020, when I played with my sister, Mia Steinberg, I have formed incredible friendships and sisterhood through the seasons. I will never forget experiences like going to the World Series in 2021 and 2024, but really whether it was practice, team dinners, hotel stays, or just hanging out in the locker room, I made the most incredible memories over the last five years.

Moving forward, I will cherish the lessons of resiliency and pockets of exhilaration from Tufts Softball and take those experiences with me throughout my life. I’m excited to keep rooting for Tufts Softball as I start my own journey in New York.
