NESCAC Player of the Week
Kennedy Rogers – Trinity – Sr. – 1B – Phillips Ranch, Calif.
Rogers went 11-for-15 (.750) at the plate, slugged 1.067, and posted an on-base percentage of .750 in a 2-2 week for the Bantams. The senior was 3-for-4 in each game of the Wesleyan doubleheader. In Game 2 against the Cardinals, Rogers registered four RBI on three doubles. The senior also knocked in the game-winning run with a walk-off single in a 4-3 victory against Amherst in the opening game of the series. It was Trinity’s first win over the Mammoths since 2011.
NESCAC Pitcher of the Week
Sadie Leonard – Williams – So. – P – Tiburon, Calif.
Leonard threw a one-hitter and struck out 18 batters in a complete-game, seven-inning 1-0 Ephs' victory over Bates in Game 1 of a doubleheader. The 18 strikeouts tied a career-high for Leonard.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Bates –
Rachel Liazos (Westborough, Mass.) went 4-for-12 at the plate over four games last week, driving in four runs along the way. The senior was 2-for-4 with two RBI in a 5-1 win over WPI and had the lone hit for Bates against Williams ace Sadie Leonard on Sunday.
Delaney Rankin (Harrison, Maine) turned in two outstanding starts last week, holding WPI to one run on four hits in a complete-game victory on Tuesday. The sophomore struck out four batters in the 5-1 win for Bates. On Sunday, Rankin went toe-to-toe with Williams ace Sadie Leonard, giving up just one run in 6.2 innings pitched, striking out five Ephs in a 1-0 loss for the Bobcats.
Colby –
Carissa Cassidy (Columbus, Ind.) led the Mules with three hits and three runs in a split with Hamilton. The leadoff batter reached and scored runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings as the Mules won the second game, 8-4, on Saturday afternoon.
Ashley Correll (Marlborough, Mass.) earned her third win of the season with a complete-game effort against Hamilton. The first year scattered five hits and allowed three earned runs in Colby's 8-4 win to improve to 3-0 on the year.
Hamilton -
Charlie Quinn (McLean, Va.) went 3-for-6 with three RBI and the junior's first two doubles of the season in a doubleheader split with Colby. In the Continentals' 5-2 win against the Mules, Quinn's RBI single in the fourth inning tied the score at 2-2.
Emma Tansky (Collegeville, Pa.) posted a 2.57 ERA with a 1-1 record in two complete-game efforts over the weekend. Tansky allowed two unearned runs on six hits in a 5-2 win against Colby. The win was the 16th of Tansky's career. The junior gave up four runs on nine hits, struck out four, and walked one in a 4-2 loss against Tufts.
Middlebury – Sophomore
Cate Viola (Marshfield, Mass.) helped guide Middlebury to a doubleheader sweep over Bowdoin on Sunday. The Panther averaged .500 at the plate, recording four hits with a pair of doubles. Viola also scored one run and tallied a team-high six RBI to push Middlebury’s winning streak to five straight victories. Sophomore
McKenna Lont (Wyckoff, N.J.) logged her first career complete game shutout in Game 2 against Bowdoin on Sunday, improving to 6-1 in the circle. The Panther allowed just four hits over seven innings of work while striking out three. Lont was also impactful at the plate, hitting.500 in the doubleheader with three hits, one double, and two RBI.
Trinity – In two appearances last week, senior
Tiffany Stowers (Burke, Va.) pitched two complete games, earning the win in both, and registered six strikeouts. Stowers helped the Bantams log their first victory over Amherst since the 2011 season in a 4-3 win in the nightcap of the doubleheader versus the Mammoths.
Tufts –
Rachel Moore (Atkinson, N.H.) hit .462 with a .563 on-base percentage and .769 slugging mark as Tufts swept games at Amherst and Hamilton for a 4-0 NESCAC weekend. The graduate student went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI in Game 2 at Amherst, a 12-0 win. In Game 2 at Hamilton, Tufts trailed 2-1 heading into the seventh inning. The Jumbos scored three times, including Moore providing the game-winning RBI on a double, and won 4-2. Moore also tripled and scored and walked twice in the first game against Hamilton, a 3-1 win, and stole three bases during the weekend.
Sky Johnson (Pismo Beach, Calif.) allowed six hits and no earned runs in two complete-game (14 innings) victories at Amherst and Hamilton. The junior struck out 14 and walked one overall. Against Amherst, Johnson gave up three hits and no runs with eight strikeouts in a 4-0 win. On Sunday at Hamilton, Johnson allowed three hits again with an unearned run and six strikeouts for a 3-1 victory. Johnson lowered her ERA to 0.58 with no earned runs in 14 innings over the weekend.
Wesleyan -
Nicole Celi (Concord, Mass.) went 4-for-4 with three extra-base hits, leading Wesleyan to a 9-8 Game 2 win over Trinity in Saturday's doubleheader. The first year launched two triples and one double in her first career four-hit game, totaling two RBI and two runs scored as the Cardinals beat the Bantams for the first time since 2019.
Williams – Senior
Tayler Wise (Belmont, Calif.) went 3-of-6 batting, with two runs and one double, in a two-game sweep of Bates on Sunday. In a 4-0 victory in Game 2, Wise went 2-for-2 at the plate and reached base three times, with one run, one double, one single, and one walk. In a 1-0 triumph in the series opener, Wise recorded a single and scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
