HADLEY, Mass. – The Middlebury Panthers posted their third straight unbeaten mark in NESCAC action (10-0) with a 12-8 win over Williams in the regular-season finale to clinch the top seed in the 2024 NESCAC Women's Lacrosse Championship for the 14th time in program history. Quarterfinal action begins on Saturday, April 27 on the campuses of the higher seeds. The four quarterfinal winners will square off in the semifinal round on Saturday, May 4 at the highest remaining seed, and the championship game is set for Sunday, May 5 at the site of the semifinal matches.
2023 NESCAC Championship Recap
The top-seeded Middlebury Panthers outscored No. 3 Tufts 6-2 in the third quarter on their way to a 19-13 win in the 2023 NESCAC Women's Lacrosse Championship. With the victory, the Panthers claimed their 11th conference title and the third in the last four seasons. The victory also marked the 250th career win for Middlebury head coach Kate Livesay. Jane Earley led Middlebury with five goals and six points and Annie Enrietto made six stops in the Panthers’ net. Tufts’ Margie Carden led all scorers with seven goals and eight points and Courtney Kaufman was credited with 12 saves for the Jumbos.
NESCAC Championship History
Five programs have won a NESCAC Women's Lacrosse title. Middlebury leads the way with 11 crowns. Trinity captured five consecutive titles from 2011 to 2015. Colby owns three conference titles (last: 2017) while Tufts won its second title in 2022. Williams won the 2010 NESCAC Championship.
