NESCAC Player of the Week
Megan Fox – Middlebury – Sr. – C/IF – Houston, Texas
Fox was outstanding this weekend, leading Middlebury to a 3-1 mark in doubleheader action against Williams and Trinity. Fox hit .583, slugged 1.083, with three multi-hit games, including a pair of homers, and drove in a run in every contest, six total RBI over the four-game stretch. On Saturday, the Panther had four hits, three RBI, one run scored, and a homer to help the squad sweep the Ephs. In the lone loss, a 2-1 setback to the Bantams, Fox went 2-for-3 with a run scored, an RBI, and a homer. With her two homers, Fox moved into a tie for fourth place in Middlebury’s career record book, tallying 11 so far during her time as a Panther.
NESCAC Pitcher of the Week
Sky Johnson – Tufts – Jr. – P – Pismo Beach, Calif.
Johnson continued her outstanding season with two more scoreless outings, going 13 innings allowing nine hits and no runs with 14 strikeouts and just one walk. Against Wesleyan on Saturday Johnson surrendered five hits and no runs with seven strikeouts and no walks. Earlier in the week versus MIT, the junior pitched seven innings giving up four hits and no runs with seven strikeouts and a walk. Johnson now has a 0.49 ERA and five shutouts on the year.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst –
Annalise Knop (Cumming, Ga.) had a hit in all five games she started last week, batting .400 (6-for-15). The newcomer drove in one run and scored twice for the Mammoths.
Bates – Sophomore
Kennedy Jones (Ocean Springs, Miss.) went 3-for-7 at the plate in Sunday's doubleheader split at Bowdoin. The catcher scored two runs, drove in two runs, doubled, and smacked a home run for the Bobcats. Jones' OPS on the season is now an impressive .932.
Delaney Rankin (Harrison, Maine) tossed a complete game Sunday against Bowdoin, propelling Bates to a 6-3 victory. The sophomore struck out six batters and did not walk anyone in the win.
Bowdoin - Senior
Shea Sullivan (Brunswick, Maine) went 3-for-3 as the Polar Bears earned a shortened 9-1 win over Bates in Game 1 of a doubleheader Sunday. Sophomore
Maddie Current (Lutherville Timonium, Md.) earned a complete game win, allowing just one earned run in the victory.
Colby – Newcomer
Ella Wilcox (Windham, Maine) drove in the winning run in Saturday's matinee at Trinity. The first-year had an RBI double in the fourth inning to open the scoring and her RBI single in the eighth inning pushed the Mules ahead 8-7. Wilcox had a hit in all four games last weekend.
Abby Orso (York Harbor, Maine) pitched two complete games last weekend, including earning her seventh victory of the season in an extra-inning matchup with Trinity. The senior threw over 200 pitches across 14 innings in less than 24 hours.
Hamilton –
Natalie Beebe (Glenmoore, Pa.) went 4-for-5 in two wins against Amherst. In Game 2 Beebe was 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored in a 6-4 victory. The senior drove in the go-ahead run with a double that made it 5-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning. Beebe added two singles and a stolen base in a 5-2 win in the opener against the Mammoths. In the circle, Beebe helped her own cause allowing one earned run on four hits in seven innings in the 5-2 win against Amherst. Beebe walked two and struck out five in the complete game effort. The senior allowed two batters to reach base over the last three innings.
Middlebury –Sophomore
McKenna Lont (Wyckoff, N.J.) had another superb week for Middlebury, tallying a pair of complete game wins. The Panther struck out eight batters over 12.0 innings of work, while not allowing a run in the 10-0 win over Trinity. Lont has hurled 10 complete games, earning the victory in the circle during nine of those outings this season. The Panther also recorded three runs on a trio of hits over the 3-1 weekend, including a pair of doubles.
Trinity –
Abigail Alper (Weston, Fla.) hit. 333 last weekend, highlighted by a 3-for-4 effort with two RBI, one double, and one triple in an 8-7 setback to Colby. The sophomore also stole two bases and scored once over four games.
Tiffany Stowers (Burke, Va.) tossed 12 innings, allowing only four runs to score over the three games. In the circle against Colby, the senior pitched a complete game with one strikeout, four hits, and two runs allowed in a 5-2 win. In Game 2 against the Mules, Stowers pitched the final 2.2 innings in relief allowing two hits and one run. Stowers closed the week with a complete-game effort in a 2-1 win over Middlebury, recording two strikeouts and giving up six hits and one run.
Tufts –
Michelle Adelman (Cooper City, Fla.) went 5-for-6 (.833) with a triple, two runs, and an RBI in a doubleheader sweep at Wesleyan on Saturday. In four games for the week overall, including a sweep of MIT on Wednesday, the senior hit .583 with a triple, three runs scored, and two RBI.
Wesleyan – Junior
Lizzie Marino (Anthem, Ariz.) recorded seven hits for the Cardinals with four RBI, two runs scored, and three stolen bases in six games last week. She went 2-for-3 in an 8-0 win over Coast Guard and went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one stolen base in a 7-3 win over Colby on Sunday.
Isabella Secaira-Cotto (Valley Stream, N.Y.) tossed 15.2 innings in three starts last week, allowing just two earned runs with no walks in those three outings. The junior started with a five-inning, two-hit shutout as the Cardinals run-ruled Coast Guard, 8-0. Secaira-Cotto then allowed one earned run in 3.2 innings against Tufts on Saturday before throwing one of her best games of the season, going 7.0 innings with just five hits and one run allowed with no walks and three strikeouts as she led the Cardinals past Colby in a 3-1 win.
Williams –
Kelly McGuigan (San Mateo, Calif.) went 9-for-15 (.600) batting, with three doubles, three runs, and one RBI, in a 2-2 NESCAC weekend. The senior went 3-for-4, with two doubles and one run in Game 2 of a doubleheader against visiting Middlebury on Saturday. During a 6-1 victory in the second game of a doubleheader Sunday at Amherst, McGuigan finished 3-for-4 at the plate, with one run.
Sadie Leonard (Tiburon, Calif.) threw a two-hitter and earned the complete-game win, improving to 6-1 on the season, in a 4-0 victory at Amherst in Game 1 of a doubleheader Sunday. The sophomore struck out 10 batters and did not give up a walk.
