NESCAC Player of the Week
Chloe Wilcox – Colby – Sr. – C – Windham, Maine
Wilcox led the Mules to a 5-3 week in Florida, including an upset over MIT. Against the Engineers on Monday, the senior went 3-for-4 and drove in two runs. In a come-from-behind victory against Kalamazoo, Wilcox collected an RBI in the third and fifth innings before driving in the game-winner on a sac fly in the sixth. Wilcox’s two-run homer in the ninth inning lifted the Mules past Union, 7-5, to start the week off in Florida. The senior went 12-for-27 (.444), including two triples, a double and a homer, with six runs scored and 10 RBI for the week.
NESCAC Pitcher of the Week
Katie Blanch – Williams – Fy. – P – Rye, N.Y.
Blanch went 3-0 in the circle last week and improved to 4-0 for her rookie season. In a 6-2 win at Tufts in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Sunday, Blanch earned the complete-game win, only allowing one earned run and no walks. The newcomer also pitched the entire game in a 10-1 five-inning victory at Hamilton on Saturday in Game 2 of a doubleheader, as she only allowed one run and did not issue a walk. In a 6-1 win at Chapman on Monday in Game 2 of a doubleheader, Blanch threw a complete game, allowing no earned runs and only walking one batter, while striking out four. Blanch totaled 10 strikeouts with one walk and a 0.66 ERA in three wins.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst –
Olivia Aitken (Durham, N.C.) batted .667 last week with a .750 on-base percentage in a 1-1 week for the Mammoths. In a 9-8 conference win over Wesleyan, the sophomore went 2-for-2, including hitting her first collegiate home run, a three-run shot, and drove in three runs while scoring twice.
Bates –
Kennedy Jones (Ocean Springs, Miss.) went 1-for-2 with a walk in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader at Tufts. The sophomore’s .379 batting average and .400 on-base percentage lead the Bobcats. In only the second outing of her collegiate career,
Elizabeth Pellini (Shrewsbury, Mass.) entered out of the bullpen Saturday against Tufts and struck out both batters she retired in two-thirds of an inning of scoreless softball.
Colby –
Ashley Correll (Marlborough, Mass.) made four appearances last week tallying 16 innings in the circle while allowing only four earned runs. The first year earned the victory against Union after throwing five scoreless innings in relief and pitched a complete game while scattering five hits in a win against Kalamazoo.
Hamilton -
Gabby Garrison (Morgantown, W. Va.) hit .500 (7-for-14), scored three runs, and drove in three in a 2-2 week for the Continentals. In a 4-3 win against Williams, Garrison went 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base, and two RBI. The first year drew a walk and later scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Garrison tied a season-high with three hits in an 8-1 victory against SUNY Cortland. Junior
Teagan Graham (Utopia, Ontario) tossed a complete game and picked up the win as the Continentals edged Williams, 4-3, in Saturday's opener. Graham allowed two earned runs on 10 hits, walked one, and struck out five, and improved to 4-1 this season.
Middlebury – Newcomer
Kelly Dever (West Palm Beach, Fla.) went 4-for-6 at the plate in doubleheader action against Wesleyan, averaging .667 in a pair of wins. The Panther belted a double and had one RBI during the day. Over the week, Dever paced the team with a .417 average at the plate, while going 2-for-3 in each of the games against the Cardinals. Senior
Jewel Ashbrook (Fremont, Neb.) picked up a win in the circle against Wesleyan on Saturday. The pitcher tallied a 1.00 ERA, allowing just four hits, while striking out two over seven innings. It marked Ashbrook’s 28th complete career game and fourth this season.
Trinity –
Taylor Mikolajczak (Johns Creek, Ga.) hit a three-run walk-off shot to close out the second game in the series, 12-3 (5 inn.), against Bowdoin. The Bantams took the series against the Polar Bears by identical 12-3 scores. The junior was 3-for-6 with six runs scored, four RBI, and four stolen bases in the series. Mikolajczak owns a .455 batting average, with 13 RBI on the season. Senior
Tiffany Stowers (Burke, Va.) threw five innings in Game 1 versus Bowdoin and held the Polar Bears to three runs and two hits while also recording three strikeouts a 12-3 run-rule win. Stowers lowered her season ERA to 1.68 which ranks fifth in the conference. Stowers is the only pitcher in NESCAC with a 5-0 record.
Tufts –
Michelle Adelman (Cooper City, Fla.) hit .545 (6-for-11) with two home runs, three walks, five runs scored, four RBI, and two stolen bases as Tufts went 3-1 in its opening weekend of NESCAC play versus Bates and Williams. The senior hit home runs in both games against Bates, as Tufts won by run rule, 9-0 and 8-0. Adelman was 3-for-5 with four runs and three RBI in the two games. Against Williams, she went 3-for-6 as the Jumbos split the series. Adelman knocked in a run in Game 1 and scored a run in Game 2. Adelman’s on-base percentage was .643 and her slugging percentage was 1.091 for the week.
Sky Johnson (Pismo Beach, Calif. ) won both of her starts over the weekend in NESCAC action against Bates and Williams. The junior was 2-0 with a 0.70 earned run average, allowing eight hits with 14 strikeouts and no walks in 10 total innings. Against Bates, Johnson allowed just one hit with nine strikeouts in a run-rule-shortened five-inning win. Johnson then went five innings in another run-rule win over Williams, giving up seven hits and a run with five strikeouts.
Wesleyan -
Molly Lennon (Litchfield, Conn.) went 8-for-13 at the plate for the Cardinals last week with one double, one triple, and four runs scored. The sophomore went 6-for-7 at the plate in Friday's doubleheader against Amherst with four runs, one RBI, and two extra-base hits.
Williams –
Tayler Wise (Belmont, Calif.) went 12-for-22 batting (.545), with six runs and two RBI, in a 3-3 week for the Ephs. The senior recorded at least one hit in all six games, four multi-hit efforts, and two three-hit performances. Wise went 3-for-3 in Game 2 of a doubleheader at Tufts Sunday afternoon. Wise went 3-for-4 in the batter's box, to go along with three runs scored and one RBI, during a 10-1 victory in the second game of a doubleheader at Hamilton on Saturday.
