HADLEY, Mass. – Trinity’s Mohamed Sharaf was selected as the NESCAC Men’s Squash Player of the Year for the third consecutive season while Nick Agger of Williams was named the NESCAC Rookie of the Year and Trinity staff garnered NESCAC Coaching Staff of the Year honors.
Sharaf is the first player to win the award in three straight seasons since Bates’ Ahmed Abdel Khalek won the honor four consecutive years (2013-2016). Sharaf is the first senior to garner the honor since John Fitzgerald (Williams) in 2019. Sharaf is the eighth year a Bantam has won the award. Playing at the top of the ladder for the Bantams, Sharaf won his matches in the semifinals and final of the NESCAC Tournament to help Trinity win its 17th straight NESCAC title. Sharaf also earned a spot on the All-NESCAC First Team for the third straight year and helped the Bantams reach the finals of the Potter Cup at the CSA Team Championship.
Agger is the first Eph to be named the NESCAC Rookie of the Year since awards began in 2008. The newcomer, who also earned a spot on the All-NESCAC First Team, helped Williams reach the semifinals of the NESCAC Championship for the 16th consecutive season.
The Trinity coaching staff led by first-year head coach Moustafa Hamada was honored with the NESCAC Coaching Staff of the Year awards by their peers. The 2023-24 season marks the fifth time since 2008 the Trinity coaches have been recognized with the award.
