NESCAC Player of the Week
Margie Carden – Tufts – Jr. - A – Newtown Square, Pa.
Carden helped the Tufts women's lacrosse team to a quick 2-0 record to start the season, as Tufts topped Connecticut College, 17-4, before besting Washington & Lee on Sunday,18-16. For the weekend, Carden finished with seven goals and four assists for 11 points to lead Tufts. On Saturday at Conn. College, Carden scored twice and assisted on another goal and then exploded for eight points in the win of the ranked Generals, going for five goals and three assists.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst – First-year
Bridget Darcy (Brightwaters, N.Y.) scored one goal and added an assist in Saturday's season opener also picking up one groundball.
Bates – Sophomore
Caroline Keating (Rye, N.Y.) scored four goals in the season-opener for the Bobcats at Stevens. On the season, Keating leads Bates with six goals, eight ground balls, and 12 draw controls.
Bowdoin - Senior
Sophia Sudano (Wilton, Conn.) scored six goals, had 10 ground balls and two caused turnovers for the Polar Bears in a 10-8 loss to Trinity on Saturday.
Colby –
Ally Franz (Chatham, N.J.) scored five goals in Colby's season-opening victory against Wesleyan, accounting for half of Colby's goals. The senior’s goals in each of the first three frames either tied the game or put the Mules ahead, and her two fourth-quarter goals sealed Colby's fourth victory in a row against the Cardinals.
Conn. College - Junior attacker
Emma Ognibene (New Canaan, Conn.) paced Conn's attack in the season opener against Tufts on Saturday. Ognibene tallied three goals in the second half to lead the Camels in scoring, while also adding four shots on goal to finish with a .750 shooting percentage.
Hamilton -
Sarah Creamer (Concord, Mass.) registered a career-high five points on three goals and two assists in a 14-10 win at Bates – the lone game of the week for the Continentals. Creamer scored all three goals in 12 minutes during the first half. The sophomore's second assist of the day gave Hamilton a 14-5 lead with one second left in the third quarter.
Middlebury -
Susan Rowley (Dedham, Mass.) led Middlebury to a 2-0 week to kick off the 2024 season. In the opening 16-5 triumph against Amherst, the Panther scored two goals and added an assist, while also scooping up two ground balls. In an 18-5 victory over Babson, Rowley paced the team with five goals while also contributing two assists. The senior’s seven points in Sunday’s game were a career-high.
Trinity – Sophomore
Molly McGuckin (Darien, Conn.) led the Bantams with a team-high four goals during in a 10-8 victory over Bowdoin in the 2024 season opener.
Wesleyan -
Kiara Tangney (Reading, Mass.) contributed all over the field in Saturday's season-opener against Colby, totaling two goals with five ground balls, three caused turnovers, and two draw controls.
Williams -
Elsa Dean-Muncie (Cumberland, Maine) scored seven goals with three assists during a 2-0 opening weekend for the Ephs. The junior finished with a hat trick and two assists in an 11-4 win over visiting Skidmore on Saturday. Dean-Muncie tallied four goals and one assist, including the game-winning tally, in an 18-1 win at Smith on Sunday.
