NESCAC Player of the Week
Anika Ewert – Bowdoin – So. – OF – Newport Coast, Calif.
Ewert was outstanding at the plate as the Polar Bears finished their spring trip to Florida with three wins in four games, improving to 11-3 overall - the team's best start to a season since 2018. Hitting leadoff for the Polar Bears, Ewert batted .857 (12-for-14) with three or more hits in three of four contests, scored 10 runs, had four RBI, and went 6-for-6 in stolen base attempts. Ewert is batting .571 with 27 runs scored and 17 stolen bases in 14 games this season. 

NESCAC Pitcher of the Week
Sky Johnson – Tufts- Jr. – P – Pismo, Calif.
Johnson pitched a one-hit shutout against Endicott College (a 3-0 win) on Tuesday to highlight her week in Florida with the Jumbos. The junior also went the distance allowing five hits and one run in a 2-1 victory over Millikin University on Monday. In an extra-innings loss to the Wisconsin-Whitewater, Johnson pitched all nine innings allowing five hits and one earned run. For the week, Johnson had a 0.75 ERA with 21 strikeouts and three walks in 28 innings.
 
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst – Newcomer Emma Nordstrom (Pelham, N.Y.) batted .583 (14-for-24) with four doubles in a 3-8 week for the Mammoths with a .577 on-base percentage and a .750 slugging percentage. She scored three runs and knocked home six RBI.

Bates – Sophomore Kennedy Jones (Ocean Springs, Miss.) hit .400 on the Bobcats' season-opening trip to Florida, going 10-for-25 at the plate with a home run and a team-high five RBI. Jones also caught two runners stealing in six chances behind the plate, playing errorless defense and allowing just one passed ball. Delaney Rankin (Harrison, Maine) posted a 2.62 ERA in her first five starts of the season for the Bobcats last week. The sophomore’s top performances included a complete game shutout in a 4-0 win over Washington & Jefferson and a season-high eight strikeouts in six innings pitched against Smith, as Rankin did not surrender an earned run in a 2-1 loss for Bates.

Colby – Sophomore Courtney Schumacher (Winnetka, Ill.) tallied four straight games with a triple to start Colby's Florida trip. Going 6-for-15 at the plate while scoring seven runs and knocking in seven RBI, the sophomore owns a streak of five straight games with an extra-base hit.  Schumacher is currently slugging 1.048 with a batting average of .476 and an OPS of 1.548. Senior Abby Orso (York Harbour, Maine) scattered four hits across 7.2 innings and allowed one earned run while tallying a season-high 10 strikeouts in an extra-inning setback against undefeated Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Hamilton - In a 4-2 week for the Continentals, Alexis Mayer (Woodcliff Lake, N.J.) hit safely in all six games. Mayer finished with a .478 batting average (11-for-23) with seven RBI, eight runs scored, four doubles, a triple, a homer, two walks, and a stolen base. The sophomore doubled twice, scored twice, and drove in a run in a 5-0 win at Wesleyan. Mayer went 3-for-4 with a triple and drove in the go-ahead run in the seventh on a single in a 5-4 victory against the Cardinals. Gabby Garrison (Morgantown, W. Va.) went 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI in a 5-4 win in nine innings against SUNY Plattsburgh. Garrison gave the Continentals a 3-1 lead at Trinity with a two-run single in the sixth inning, and Hamilton went on to a 4-1 victory. For the week the first-year was 4-for-6 with a sacrifice bunt. Natalie Beebe (Glenmoore, Pa.) picked up wins against two NESCAC opponents. Beebe pitched a seven-inning shutout in a 5-0 victory at Wesleyan, scattering seven hits and striking out seven. The senior tossed four innings in relief of a 4-1 triumph at Trinity, giving up one run on three hits and one walk and fanning four. The shutout at Wesleyan was the fourth of Beebe's career.

Middlebury – Sophomore Kristyn Carroll (Kinnelon, N.J.) helped Middlebury go 3-3 last week at The Spring Games in Florida. The Panther hit .727 at the plate with 14 hits and recorded multiple hits in all six contests. Carroll had a pair of doubles, and four RBI, and scored six times. The outfielder also stole two bases. Carroll’s batting average currently leads the league, with her 21 hits tying for second. Sophomore McKenna Lont (Wyckoff, N.J.) earned four wins against just one loss in the circle for Middlebury last week. The Panther posted an ERA of 3.25, striking out 16 batters over 32.1 innings pitched. Lont’s best game came in a 6-3 come-from-behind win against Carleton, where the pitcher recorded a 2.00 ERA, while allowing just five hits and striking out four.

Tufts – Sophomore Kaitlyn Perucci (Coto De Caza, Calif.) hit .452 (14-for-31) with six walks, seven RBI, and two stolen bases in 10 games for Tufts last week. She was 4-for-4 with three doubles and five RBI in a 12-6 comeback win over Buffalo State. Perucci also had a combined four hits in wins over Millikin and Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Monday, as well as totaled four hits in the two games on Saturday. Perucci showed defensive versatility with starts in right field and first base for the Jumbos. 

Wesleyan – Rookie Jordynn Killion (Bedford Hills, N.Y.) extended her hitting streak to eight straight games while going 5-for-9 at the plate in four games last week with two doubles and a perfect fielding percentage at third base. Killion went 1-for-2 with a double, walk, and run scored in a 2-0 win over Carleton while she went 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run in Game 2 of a Friday doubleheader against Hamilton. Isabella Secaira-Cotto (Valley Stream, N.Y.) threw a pair of complete games in her two outings last week, allowing one earned run for a 0.50 ERA. The junior recorded a complete game shutout in a 2-0 win over Carleton, allowing three hits and no walks with three strikeouts for her fourth career shutout. Secaira-Cotto followed with another strong outing against Hamilton, going the distance and allowing one earned run with no walks. 

WilliamsSydney Fleming (Burlingame, Calif.) went 9-for-20 in the batter's box, to go along with eight RBIs, three home runs, two doubles, and four runs scored in seven games last week for the Ephs. The junior recorded at least one hit in six of the seven games and recorded a trio of multi-hit efforts. Fleming went 2-for-3 batting, including a three-run homer in the first inning, in Game 1 of a doubleheader at Whittier on Monday. Fleming finished 2-for-4 in the batter's box, including a three-run homer in the first, in a 6-5 win at the University of La Verne in the second game of a doubleheader on Wednesday. The catcher also went 2-of-4, with a pair of doubles, in Game 1 of the doubleheader against La Verne. Sadie Leonard (Tiburon, Calif.) went 2-0 in the circle last week for the Ephs, while also earning one save. The sophomore earned the win, pitching the final 2.1 innings, and did not allow a hit or run in a 3-2 victory at Whittier in Game 2 of a doubleheader on Monday. Leonard earned the win, working seven innings and allowing one hit and no runs, while striking out 13, in a 7-4 win at Pomona-Pitzer Sunday. Leonard also earned a two-inning save, not allowing any runs, in a 6-5 win during the second game of a doubleheader at the University of La Verne on Wednesday.
