NESCAC Player of the Week
Kate Coughlin – Conn. College – So. – A – Reading, Mass.
Coughlin led the Camels to a 2-0 week, recording 11 points on nine goals and two assists, adding two ground balls, and one caused turnover. In the first game of the week against the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Coughlin notched her second hat trick of the season while adding two assists, as the Camels defeated the Mariners 17-3. On Saturday, Coughlin led Conn with six goals, to give the Camels their first win over Bowdoin since 2001. Coughlin opened the game with a first-quarter hat trick, before tallying another goal midway through the second quarter as Conn led 4-2 at the half. Coughlin added two goals in the fourth quarter to shut down any comeback chance for Bowdoin, to cap off the win.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst – Sophomore
Jessye Salmon (Fleetwood, N.Y.) made nine saves on 17 shots on goal over 60 minutes Saturday as the Mammoths upset Colby, 12-7, on the road.
Bates –
Emma Austin (Norwich, Vt.) had a hand in both goals for Bates Saturday against undefeated Middlebury. The senior scored her fifth goal of the season and dished out her third assist. Austin also caused a turnover against the Panthers.
Bowdoin – Sophomore
Annie Moore (Fall Church, Va.) scored three goals as Bowdoin rallied from a second-half deficit to defeat Springfield in Florida last week, 11-9.
Colby –
Ally Franz (Chatham, N.J.) tallied seven goals over the weekend, matching a season-high five goals Sunday in a win against Roger Williams University. The senior currently ranks second in the NESCAC with 16 goals this season.
Hamilton -
Meghan Lane (Wilton, Conn.) collected four points, 11 draw controls, seven ground balls, and four caused turnovers in two games. Lane came up with six draws, five ground balls, two caused turnovers, and an assist in an 11-5 win against St. John Fisher. The defender registered a career-best three points on two goals and an assist and added five draws, two ground balls and two caused turnovers in a 21-9 setback against Tufts.
Middlebury – Senior
Susan Rowley (Dedham, Mass.) helped Middlebury extend its winning streak to 32 straight with a 16-2 triumph over Bates on Saturday. The Panther recorded six points (5G, 1A) in the victory, marking the second game Rowley has tallied six or more.
Trinity – In a non-conference matchup versus Ithaca in Sparks, Md., junior
Brooke Kurtz (Alexandria, Va.) registered career-highs of three goals and seven assists for 10 points as the Bantams defeated the Bombers, 20-10.
Wesleyan -
Olivia Lai (Basking Ridge, N.J.) exploded for a career-high six goals in a Little Three win over Williams on Saturday, finishing just one shy of matching the single-game team record at Wesleyan. Lai’s six goals came on just seven shots while she scored consecutive goals that ignited a game-sealing 4-0 run with the score tied at 12 apiece with under nine minutes remaining in regulation. Lai added three goals with a career-high three caused turnovers and three ground balls in a road win at Catholic on Wednesday. The graduate attack has a hat trick in all four games to start 2024 while she is tied for second in the NESCAC in goals per game (3.75) this season.
Williams – Newcomer
Cece Tauber (Greenwich, Conn.) tallied a career-high four assists and career-high four points against Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon in Middletown, Conn.
