Why did you choose to attend Tufts?
I chose Tufts because it offered the perfect balance of challenging academics and strong athletics. Also, since I hadn't settled on a major upon entering college, Tufts' diverse array of majors appealed to me. The proximity to my home and the easy access to Boston were also perks!
Why did you choose to be a Division III student-athlete?
I wanted to continue to play the sport I love while pursuing a high-quality education. Division III seemed to offer the best of both worlds.
Is there anything special about your uniform number?
I wear the number 20 because it reminds me where I come from. My dad wore 20 in his earlier days while playing sports, and my older sister, who I grew up watching play college softball, wore the number as well. They’ve both shaped my softball journey and I wanted to continue on their legacy. Also, I’ve worn the same number for 10 years, so at this point it's superstition.
What’s your go-to warmup song?
Just Wanna Rock by Lil Uzi Vert
What is something you enjoy doing that you never get tired of?
Sleeping!!!
What has been your favorite class outside of your major?
My senior year I took an art class, “Art as Process”, which I enjoyed. It allowed me to continue a hobby that had taken a backseat during my college years. It also woke up the artistic and creative parts of my brain that had been somewhat dormant while studying engineering.
What internships/research projects have you participated in?
I participated in summer internships including a water engineering internship at Wright Pierce, and an environmental health & safety internship at Parker Hannifin. Through these experiences, as well as various research projects, I’ve experienced firsthand the intersection of health and the environment.
What has been the most interesting part of your major?
Exploring the intersection of public health and environmental engineering has been most fascinating to me. Also, delving into the global perspective of water and sanitation infrastructure has been eye-opening and has taught me the importance of not taking my access to these amenities for granted.
What is the greatest lesson you have learned from being a student-athlete?
While seemingly obvious, the greatest lesson I’ve learned is about teamwork. As student-athletes, both in the classroom and on the field, we are tasked with working together toward a common
goal. Effective communication is key, and a large component of that is being able to listen to and understand different perspectives.
What is your favorite place on your campus?
Spicer Field holds a special place in my heart because it is where I’ve learned some of life’s greatest lessons while also creating some of the best memories with my teammates.
