NESCAC Player of the Week
Ben Callahan-Gold – Trinity – Sr. – F/C – New York, N.Y.
Ben Callahan-Gold averaged 22.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game and shot 55 percent from 3-point range and 83 percent at the free-throw line in wins over Bates and Tufts. The senior led all scorers with 26 points, going 8-for-15 from beyond the arc with four rebounds and three blocks. On Saturday against Tufts, Callahan-Gold posted a 19-point, four-rebound effort and was 4-for-7 from 3-point range.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst - Senior
Dan Schlakman (Sharon, MA) led the Mammoths with a team-high 14 points, tying his career-high by shooting 6-of-9 from the field, and added four rebounds against Bowdoin. Schlakman scored the first seven points of the game for the Mammoths in his final game at LeFrak Gymnasium.
Bates –
Brady Coyne (Falmouth, Maine) tallied 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting on Friday against Trinity. The sophomore guard followed up with nine points on 3-for-4 shooting on Saturday versus Wesleyan. Coyne hit 9-of-16 shots on the week, including 6-of-13 from 3-point range.
Bowdoin - Bowdoin defeated Amherst for the first time since 2010 as senior
Michael Simonds (Falmouth, Maine) scored 21 points with six rebounds in his final collegiate contest for the Polar Bears.
Colby – Senior
Lucas Green (Franklin Park, N.J.) finished in double-digit points for the fourth straight game to close out his career. His 238 points this season were one point shy of his career-high from a season ago.
Conn. College –
David Murray (Jackson Heights, N.Y.) averaged team highs of 22.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game last week as the Camels went 1-1 to end the regular season. The senior finished with game-highs of 25 points and 15 rebounds and handed out five assists at Middlebury as Conn extended its winning streak to six games. Murray added netted 20 points to go with seven boards and two blocks in the regular season finale at Williams. The forward/center shot 62.5 percent from the floor over the two games and recorded his team-leading 10th double-double of the season.
Hamilton -
Ha
nk Morgan (Caldwell, N.J.) averaged 22.0 points and 7.0 rebounds, and was 9-of-17 from 3-point range in two games. Morgan posted 22 points, nine boards, three assists, two blocked shots, and two steals in an 89-58 win against Colby. The junior guard added 22 points, five rebounds and two assists in a 61-57 setback against Bowdoin. Morgan's five 3-pointers against the Polar Bears tied a career-high.
Wesleyan –
Shane Regan (Larchmont, N.Y.) averaged 23 points and shot 50 percent from three over the weekend as the Cardinals played at Tufts and Bates. Regan opened with 25 points (9-20 FG, 4-7 3FG) while playing all 45 minutes in an overtime loss to the Jumbos. The junior followed with 21 points and six rebounds as the Cardinals defeated Bates 79-54 to clinch a spot in the NESCAC Tournament.
Williams – Senior
Nate Karren (Sacramento, Calif.) registered 12 points, nine assists, and six rebounds in a 62-59 win over Connecticut College on Sunday … The win helped the Ephs clinch the No. 1 seed in the NESCAC Men’s Basketball Championship. Karren’s nine assists led all players and the six rebounds were tied for a team-high.
