NESCAC Player of the Week
Matt Toporowski – Amherst – Sr. – F – Kirkland, Quebec
Toporowski had six points on three goals and three assists, in a 2-1-0 week with the only Mammoth setback coming in a 3-2 overtime loss to No. 4-ranked SUNY-Geneseo. The senior scored the game-winning goal to make the score 4-3 and added an assist to help the Mammoths rally from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Saint Michael's, 5-3. In the loss to SUNY-Geneseo, the forward had a hand in both Amherst goals. His goal with 2:26 remaining in the third period tied the game at 2-2 and forced overtime. Toporowski added a goal and an assist in a win over Babson on Sunday.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Bowdoin – Sophomore
Jack Barbro (Loudonville, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal 1:42 into overtime to lift the Polar Bears to a 3-2 win over No. 13 Endicott on Tuesday.
Colby –
Massimo Gentile (Montreal, Quebec) tallied two goals and two assists to lead Colby to a 2-0-1 week. The rookie’s score against Southern New Hampshire University on Sunday proved to be the game-winner in a 7-1 victory. Gentile has three goals on the year and averages 1.0 points per game.
Conn. College - Sophomore forward
Andrew Eberling (Mount Laurel, N.J.) paced Conn. College with three points in a 1-0-1 week. On Tuesday, Eberling picked up an assist on the Camels’ second goal of the game as Conn. held on to defeat Manhattanville, 5-4, in overtime. On Sunday afternoon, the sophomore followed up with a two-point game. Eberling’s deflection goal gave Conn. a 1-0 lead. With time running down in the third, and the Camels trailing 3-2, Eberling picked up an assist on sophomore
William Tripp's (Lakeville, Mass.) game-tying goal in an eventual 3-3 tie with Salve Regina.
Hamilton –
Grisha Gotovets (Minks, Belarus) scored two goals and added an assist in a 1-1-0 weekend for the Continentals. Gotovets recorded Hamilton's goal in a 2-1 loss to SUNY Fredonia then scored the third goal and had the primary assist on the first goal in the Continentals' 5-2 win against Skidmore in the consolation game of the Skidmore Thanksgiving Invitational. The senior was named to the all-tournament team.
Middlebury –
Andrew Heinze (North Andover, Mass.) helped Middlebury claim the LayerEight Shootout Title for the first time in 16 years. The Panther posted 31 saves on Friday night, including 14 in the opening period to help Middlebury top Marian, 6-2. On Saturday, Heinze stopped all 28 shots faced to propel Middlebury to a 2-0 victory over Norwich. The shutout was the sophomore’s second of the season as he earned a spot on the all-tournament team. Heinze is second in the NESCAC in goals against average (1.81), saves per game (28.6), and save percentage (.941).
Tufts –
Gustave Bylin (Montclair, N.J.) made two saves as Tufts won the first shootout in its history, 2-0, over Babson College on Tuesday night in a 3-3 tie. The junior had 38 saves during regulation and overtime. Over the weekend Bylin was the MVP of the North Country Tournament won by the Jumbos. He made 48 saves on 51 shots in two games as Tufts posted a 4-2 win over host SUNY Canton on Saturday and won the championship, 3-1, against Rivier University on Sunday. Bylin had a .935 save percentage and 1.96 goals against average over the three games.
Williams –
Jack Sabre (Edina, Minn.) had a hand in both goals for the Ephs in a 2-1 win over Babson on Saturday. The senior scored the first goal of the game and assisted on the overtime game-winner.
