NESCAC Football Offensive Player of the Week
Ryan Lynskey – Bates – So. – RB – Cranford, N.J.
Lynskey carried the ball 20 times for 344 yards (17.2 ypc) and three touchdowns Saturday against Bowdoin. The sophomore’s 344 rushing yards broke the NESCAC and the Bates records for rushing yards in a game. The conference record was previously held by Trinity’s Thomas Pierandri, who rushed for 304 yards against Wesleyan in 2003. The previous Bates record was held by Sean Atkins '03, who ran for 302 yards against Bowdoin in 2002. Lynskey had touchdown runs of 72, 54, and 95 yards. His 95-yard run is the second-longest in Bates football history, dating back to the 19th century. Lynskey's performance puts him at 1,018 rushing yards on the season, the first Bates 1,000-yard rusher since Atkins in 2002.
NESCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week
Luke Harmon – Amherst – Jr. – DB – Washington, D.C.
Harmon led Amherst with 10 tackles (9 solo), two sacks for a loss of 10 yards, an interception, a fumble recovery, and a forced fumble in a setback to Trinity. On Trinity’s first drive of the game, Harmon intercepted the pass and returned it for 21 yards to set up an Amherst touchdown which gave the Mammoths a 7-0 lead. On the Bantams' first drive of the third quarter, Harmon recovered a fumble that led to another Amherst touchdown and the junior also forced a fumble at the end of the third quarter that led to an Amherst field goal to start the fourth frame and trimmed the Trinity lead to 28-20.
NESCAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Gage Hammond – Wesleyan – So. – K – Montclair, N.J.
Hammond went 2-for-2 on extra point attempts, including one with six seconds left to lift Wesleyan past Williams, 25-24, as the Cardinals captured their third straight Little East title. Hammond also made a 21-yard field goal in the game and booted a career-long 70-yard punt on Saturday, averaging 41.6 yards per punt on seven attempts while landing two punts inside the 20-yard line.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst – Junior
Carter Jung (Menlo Park, Calif.) led all Mammoth receivers with 83 yards on five receptions Saturday in a 45-20 loss to Trinity. Jung also returned four kickoffs for a total of 103 yards, with a 39-scamper among that total.
Bates –
Ryan Rozich (Cromwell, Conn.) paced the Bobcats with eight total tackles, including six solo stops, and a tackle for loss Saturday against Bowdoin. The sophomore also forced a fumble. Rozich leads the NESCAC with 68 total tackles this season …
Marcos Ruiz (Haskell, N.J.) made all three PAT attempts against the Polar Bears. The sophomore also made his second field goal of the season, a 24-yarder from a tough angle, to cut the Bowdoin lead to 14-10 with 52 seconds left in the first quarter.
Bowdoin – In just his second collegiate game, first-year quarterback
Peter Macaulay (San Anselmo, Calif.) tied a school record with five touchdown passes to spark the Polar Bears to a convincing 35-24 win at Bates. Macaulay completed 70 percent of his passes (16-for-23) for 272 yards, while also rushing for 36 yards on nine attempts. Two of his scoring strikes were over 35 yards, including a 50-yard touchdown throw on the third play of the second half that gave Bowdoin a double-digit lead it would never relinquish. Macaulay found five different receivers for touchdowns as Bowdoin earned its first win in Lewiston since 2007 … Senior
Koy Price (Norwalk, Conn.) led the Bowdoin defense with seven tackles, including a sack, while classmate
Max Danenhower (Seattle, Wash.) added a pair of sacks as the Polar Bear defense allowed just 65 yards passing in a win over Bates on Saturday.
Colby –
Jack Nye (Clinton, Conn.) led Colby through the air with six receptions for 82 yards against Tufts. The rookie receiver was targeted 10 times and five of his six catches went for first downs. Nye leads the Mules with 434 receiving yards this season and averages over 15 yards per catch …
Trevor Smith (Concord, N.H.) tallied a career-high 11 tackles (8 solo) in a setback against the Jumbos. The junior forced a fumble early in the third quarter that narrowly trickled out of bounds before the Mules could maintain possession. It was Smith's third forced fumble in the last four games.
Hamilton – Sophomore
Chester Boynton (Concord, Mass.) caught three passes and set a Hamilton record for most receptions in a season in the Continentals' 35-0 setback at Middlebury. Boynton has 58 catches for 450 yards with two touchdowns. The old record of 55 was shared by two players … Senior
Ian Fratarcangeli (Huntington, N.Y.) led the Hamilton defense with 16 tackles including 13 solo stops against the Panthers. It was the most tackles by a Continental since Cole Burchill '19 had the same number against Wesleyan on Sept. 30, 2017 …
Tighe Hoey (New Canaan, Conn.) averaged 42.0 yards on five punts versus Middlebury. The senior landed one punt inside the Panther 20-yard line and had two travel 50 or more yards. Hoey is second in NCAA Division III with an average of 44.54 yards per punt.
Middlebury –
Isaiah Izzo Lizardi (West Hartford, Conn.) scored the first rushing touchdown of the senior’s career on Saturday to cap a 35-0 victory over Hamilton. The Panther recorded 29 yards rushing over just two drives, including 16 yards on his scoring jaunt … Late in the third quarter,
Teddy Daniel (Wellesley, Mass.) denied Hamilton its best chance to get on the scoreboard, breaking up a third-down pass that appeared destined for the endzone. The senior paced the Panthers with five solo tackles, helping Middlebury limit the Continentals to just one first down in the opening half and only nine overall. Daniel ranks third in the NESCAC with 11 passes defended (8 BRUP, 3 INT) … Senior
Zach Levy (Arvada, Colo.) was a perfect 5-for-5 in extra points on Saturday. The Panther is 24-for-24 in PATs this season, running his career mark to 66 which ranks fourth all-time at Middlebury.
Trinity – Senior
Sean Clapp (Wyckoff, N.J.) had a record-setting day in the Bantams' 45-20 victory at Amherst. Clapp logged five receptions for a season-high 162 yards with two touchdowns. Trailing 10-0 in the first quarter, Clapp hauled in a career-high 81-yard touchdown reception to put Trinity on the scoreboard. On the Bantams’ next possession, Clapp ripped off a 44-yard touchdown to give Trinity a 14-10 lead. With five receptions, Clapp became Trinity's all-time leader in career receptions with 162, passing the mark set by Terry McNamara (1986-89) …
Matthew Jumes (Franklin, Mass.) accounted for nine points in the Bantams’ 45-20 victory at Amherst. Jumes went a perfect 6-for-6 on PATs to move to an unblemished 35-for-35 mark on the season, the seventh-most in a season in program history. Jumes added a 23-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to improve to 6-for-6.
Tufts -
Christian Shapiro (South Salem, N.Y.) helped Tufts post its fourth straight win at Colby on Saturday. The sophomore tailback posted his third 100-yard rushing game in the last four contests with 109 yards on 20 carries and a pair of touchdowns. Shapiro has eight touchdowns in 2024, with six coming in his last four games … Senior
Henry Ferrelli (Tampa, Fla.) recorded a team-high seven tackles, adding an interception in the end zone to stop a Colby drive right before the end of the first half. The senior has interceptions in each of the last two weeks.
Wesleyan – A converted defensive back,
Luke LaSaracina (Colchester, Conn.) was involved in the passing game at wide receiver on Saturday against Williams and made the biggest catch of the season for the Cardinals. Trailing 24-18 with nine seconds remaining, LaSaracina beat his defender on a post route and secured a diving 14-yard touchdown reception that proved the difference in a 25-24 win over the Ephs. The touchdown catch was the first score of LaSaracina's career …
Ben Carbeau (Concord, Mass.) recorded 10 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack for seven yards, and a fumble recovery inside the Williams 5-yard line that set up a Wesleyan first-quarter touchdown in the Cardinals’ 25-24 win over Williams. It was Carbeau’s second game with 10+ tackles this season. The senior leads the team and ranks second in the NESCAC with 12.5 tackles for loss in 2024. The victory helped Wesleyan claim its third straight Little Three title.
Williams – Sophomore
Owen Johansen (Northport, N.Y.) averaged 11.4 yards per carry, with his longest run of the season coming on a play where he picked up 46 yards and scored a touchdown at Wesleyan … In a game where the Williams' defense held Wesleyan to its smallest margin of victory all season, first-year linebacker
Luke Mangini (Moreland Hills, Ohio) recorded a standout performance. Mangini’s first-quarter sack for a loss of 10 yards was the biggest non-penalty loss of the day for either team. Mangini also led the Ephs' defense with a pair of quarterback hurries and eight tackles (5 assisted, 3 solo), to go along with one pass breakup … Sophomore punter
Leonardo Maiuolo (San Jose, Calif.) did all he could to set the Williams' defense up for success with seven punt attempts, five of which landed inside the Wesleyan 20-yard line. Maiuolo had a first-quarter punt that traveled 56 yards and pinned Wesleyan back to its own three-yard line.
