NESCAC Field Hockey Player of the Week
Kellyn Scheel – Conn. College - Fy. – F/M – Palo Alto, Calif.
Scheel scored three goals and led the Camels to a 2-0 record, including a 2-1 victory over No. 22 Hamilton. The rookie scored two goals, including the first of her collegiate career, in a 6-0 win over Eastern Connecticut State. Scheel also tallied the goal that proved to be the difference in the victory over the Continentals, giving Conn its first win against Hamilton since 2017.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst – Junior
Molly Donegan (Wallingford, CT) scored the Mammoths' lone goal in a 2-1 loss to No. 6 Tufts last week.
Bates –
Anna Cote (New Gloucester, Maine) tallied all three goals the Bobcats scored last week, including two in a 2-1 overtime win versus the University of New England on Wednesday. The senior also scored on Saturday against Tufts, ripping a shot into the cage from the far edge of the shooting area. Cote's goal against the Jumbos tied the game at 1-1. The midfielder leads Bates with seven goals and five assists through 12 games. Cote’s four game-winning goals are tops in the NESCAC.
Colby –
Elizabeth Takoudes (Needham, Mass.) helped the Mules bounce back Sunday in a win at Southern Maine. The junior's third goal of the season less than a minute before halftime proved to be the game-winner.
Hamilton –
Lilly Truchon (South Burlington, Vt.) scored the go-ahead goal early in the fourth quarter of the Continentals' 2-1 win at St. Lawrence and tallied Hamilton's lone goal in its 2-1 setback at Conn. College. The junior has 15 career goals.
Middlebury – Senior
Hanna Medwar (Andover, Mass.) tallied her first career hat trick to help Middlebury top Colby 9-0 on Saturday. The Panther also recorded an assist on Sunday, as Middlebury set a school record for the longest unbeaten streak at 43 consecutive wins.
Tufts –
Lydia Eastburn (New Hope, Pa.) was key to two good NESCAC wins on the road for Tufts last week. The junior made six saves in a 2-1 win at Amherst on Wednesday, including a stop as time expired during an Amherst penalty corner. Eastburn added four saves in the fourth quarter of a 2-1 Tufts win at Bates on Saturday. She had two saves each during two Bates corner attempts in the last quarter to keep Tufts ahead. For the week Eastburn recorded a .833 save percentage with 10 saves total.
Wesleyan – Senior
Kenzie Kelly (Needham, Mass.) produced three shots in the Cardinals' 4-1 win over Trinity on Wednesday.
Williams – Sophomore
Madeline Rowland (Wilmington, Del.) scored the game-winning goal midway through the second quarter in a 2-1 win at No. 12 Wesleyan on Saturday.
